Let me elaborate a bit.
My elder daughter takes RWI at Bab since K3. Her english standard is not high but RWI really helps her in spelling and recognising words.
My younger daughter takes RWI since K2. She is very interested in blending words.. always say 'c-a-t, cat; b-a-d, bad... just like singing a song a home' and she played blending with elder sister to guess words.
On the other hand, english ladder by the same centre (1.5 hr course) is a general english course. The kids have arts crafts, 'cooking' under the guidance of english teacher. I do notice that they played videos during the course (peppa pig) but I dunno the duration. I am not sure if it is for rest or what. But I must say, my girl loves peppa pig so much after attending course there, Whenever I let her watch youtube for a while for rest, she chose Peppa pig and I noticed that her oral improves a lot thro' watching peppa pig (OMG...). Her tone is sometimes like native speaker and she really knows how to apply the words she had learned in daily conversation. Surely I am not willing to spend so much on playing and watching youtube in an english class which is not cheap. So, I intend to quit english ladder.
My friend's girl started RWI in K1 and she encountered a special problem. When her girl reads, she always tries to pronounce the words instead of reading the content. So her reading ability is rather low. So, I wonder if kids should not start phonics class before 4 years old. I know it depends but just for your information.
