If you get all those offers and not living in any of their school network, is it still better to choose St Paul? All are good schools and I am not familiar with HK lottery system. Does that mean if we go to SSGK/HY, we still need to join the lottery in order to get in? can the Principal have any says to pick up their own gals?
or in other word, if we move to the school district and attend their kindergarten, will it give us higher chance from the others who live in the same district?

I think I can answer some questions, you need to join lottery to get the seat from primary school of HY and SSGS as both of them are subsidy by government.  The principal can select the top students from kinder to primary school directly with limited quota.  However, nobody knows what are the criteria of top students.

If you are not live in school district, the chance of getting a seat is very low even you live in the same district with primary school.

Hope you can make the final decision as soon as possible and release the seat to the students who on waiting list.

Tomorrow is better

Me too, thinking the same q, got SSGK, Kau Yan, St. Catherine...... But I am not as lucky as to get St Paul's , if I have st Paul's' , I will definitely choose St. Paul's . And the location is more accessible either in Kln side or HK side

Dear Periwinkemama,
I checked with school bus and it will take 1.5 hour per trip to Causeway, that is why I am worried if the long travel will tax on my gal long term learning ability as it is fatigue. HY is closer. but I am not familiar with allocation system when I applied, i thought it is one train school. as long as you attend their kindergarten or will give you higher chance as the headmaster knows the kids. I think SSGK has the warmest heart as the school did spent 1 hour to understand each child in the interview. I really appreciate that and they are really serious to treat each child. I thought that was one dragon school tim as the school spent so much time on each child for interview, that would mean they will pick one who will stay with school for 15 years. but after reading some materials lately, it is not either....

To me, 1.5 hours every day is too much to commute for a child .....
I don't think its worth moving to Net11 for SSGPS lucky draw because there is no guarantee given today's competition.  They are a few door-knocking seats reserved for SSGK, but not enough for everyone.  You have to take your chances.
The path for SPK is much simplier.  It's worth moving if you plan to study for 15 years.

United we stand, divided we fall.

If u reli consider the primary promotion issue. SPK is definitely your first choice , both Heep yun n SSGK knocking door seats not more than 5 per year, unless you move to the district for lottery. But if u gonna move, why Dunn just move somewhere near SPK? It's a long term ! And NET 12 is extreme good for your girl too. But If you consider your kid's feeling and u won't move to HK side, to be frank, I will pick Heep Yun, traveling every day is really tired for kids. Save more time for her , well prepared for the primary exam !!

I think the competition is always keen for a few discretionary places left in HY. For SSG, the no. of places left at the discretion of school principal is more. Few years ago, near 50% of primary places finally occupied by SSGKG graduates through different stages of admission. With more boys admitted to KG in recent years, chance seems to be higher for girls to get primary places.
