in terms of the curriculum, in fact they are both traditional schools.
but the campus at YW is bigger (Y2K std).
family backgrounds of the current students may be different for these 2 schools.
one is boy-school; one is 80% boy-school.
heard that RC secondary section may also changed into private (?) or DSS in a few years.

On the sport side, YW may put more focus than RC

I have friends study in both schools.  It is hard to compare but I know that both schools has lots of homework.  Thus, I think both are good and put emphasis in academic.

Why YW is happier than RC, it is because of the principle.  She will use different theme each year to drive / motiviate the kids to get better result i.e. thru competition.

first of all, I have no bias to either one.

YW: Chinese primary school.
RC: English primary school.
(but of course eng shouldn't be the only factor to consider when choosing a school)

YW and RC : amt of homework almost the same.
both stress on academic too, otherwise no progress and poor public exam result, right?

YW: need active participation in music+-sports.
RC: optional, encourage participation.

happy or not? i think it depends on the kid rather than the school! very subjective impression and experience.
maybe YW happier? b'cos campus bigger? so allow more participation in ECA?

So yr logic is:
1. More homework ==> good school
2. More competition ==> happier school life

YW is a CMI..

After DSS, the syllabus was revised and super challenging.  I am sure P.1-2 English at YW is harder.  Compostiion starts at P.1 and writing a letter about your school life in the first term test at P.2.  English Test/exam cover 10 pages of work and finished within 50 mins.

I did not see any similar syllabus before and factually it is quite hard for a P.1-2.

School has great expectation to DSS boys and their parents.

A parent has both boys at P.4(pre-DSS) and P.1(DSS).  She found P.1 boy using the same P.3 English worksheet from elder brother.

Another surprise for YW boys, P.2 math already covers multipy in 1st term.  Division will be taught in fall term.  And also Eng Math..

Did I say more homework = good school?
No, I didn't.
Both schools have lots of homework, this is what I have been told from my friends.

Did I say more competition = happier?
What I said is YW will package it in a fun way to motivate and push the kids for higher standard.

Both are good schools.  It really depends on the type of kids.
I have visited both schools and found that those in RC is very very polite and discipline.
Those I saw in YW is relatively more sporty.
