申請了2010-11的N班, 但剛剛學校打黎話只接受8月31日前出生的申請, 打後出生要列為waiting, 佢地話要等出年9月開學後睇下有無人退學或有無學位剩才會按排面試, 細B真係蝕底d……
請問有無家長的小朋友係細B但最終可以入讀呢? 係咪等到last　ｍｉｎｕｔｅ才收到通知呢？

My daughter was born in 25Sep08, KCS told me the details same as yours even my son is studying their K1

我都有交FORM, 有人打電話比我, 我個仔係SEPT 5, 08 BB, 佢都係話要WAITING, 我問左好多都唔收8月31號後的BB, 好可能無N1讀, 好唔開心呀.

我都唔明甘10-12月果D BB 重慘

Dear Totowang,

May I ask if your son likes K1 ? did he go to Nursery at KCS too ? how did he like it (nursery or K) and do you think that the teachers are nice ? what about the culture of the school ? I heard from some friends that the teachers are tough and very 'traditional' and some kids might not adapt well ... thanks a lot for your sharing !!

會主動打比你地已經好好喇....我地上年全部都係自己打去問,唔問仲以為寄失左FORM添呀....
其實大家都唔需要等~除非佢真係突然收生非常不足~
因為收左大仔之後,都仲有好多大仔WAITING等讀....基本上,唔係家底顯赫/1-6月出世都唔係好需要等~仲要呢幾年出生率咁高,佢地都未驚過~

my daughter born Dec 28, 07, also need to be waited list as school indicated she supposed qualified for K1 2010-2011 as indicated by the guidlines of Educational Bureau. they will only interview those born on 2008. I don't know this is really true or just they wish to do filtering.
I really disagree with this practice as their admission requirement didn't mention 2007 baby is not qualified for N1. They infact receive our $30 application fee and didn't grant us a chance of interview. They suggest my daughter to try K1 or start N1 in 2nd term (means Feb 10). any one experienced the same with me? I'm quite frustrated.

my son was in the exact situation as your daughter. He's born Dec 1 07. Didn't get a chance to interview N1 and was told they'll only interview those born in 2008. This is really unfair. If they don't accept 2007 born application, they should have told us earlier. It's not fair to just interview those born between Jan 1 08 to Aug 31 08, but at the same time get our $$!!! Now I really have very bad impression about the school

BTW, they wasted our $$, stamps, envelop, time and sincerety.
Did you apply K1 (KCS) for your son? I submitted the form yesterday and they provide me an interview time at once, I think this is much fair. However, I'm still prefer to let her be "Big Girl" but not KCS Nursery as I've lost confidence on her.

I applied for K1 at KCS too but I'm planning to let him be 'big boy' too because I don't think he's ready for K1 yet. I'm sure we'll face the same situation at K1 application next year too. So KCS is out of question for all year-end born babies...

My son was born on 18 Dec 2007, I also applied N1 and rejected for interview, and K1 (interview on 5 Dec)....

My son loves to study in KCS K1. He hasn't learned any Chinese in Pre-Nursery of another school, but he can talk a bit and sing a lot of Putonghua songs at home now.

Basically my son is a active boy and cannot stop always, but he loves to read and has less bad temper during 1+ month K1 life. I think under tradition education is good for him.

KCS changed a lot for the last 1 year. I would say due to popularity, they start to choose the ones that they think are the"best students". N1 to K1 will no longer be directly promoted, all kids have to go through interviews. Then k3 to P1, have to go through interviews too. Yes, requirements are much more tougher and strict. Teachers said they want to select the "精英". The "small kids" are harder to handle and teach, so KCS prefers not to accept them.

Wow, things have changed so much in the last few years.......My older girl was born in Dec 2002係細B and we applied for K1 & was interviewed when she was only 22 months old.  We were accepted for K1 and were asked whether we liked to start Nursery in Jan (due to after SARS, a new class was opened in Jan).  So "yes" of course.  3 years later I applied for my son (who's in K2 now).  We have to interviewed for Nursery & again at Kindergarten for K1.  KCPS Nursery & Kindergarten are seperated shools now with different system & application process.
For 2008-09, there were 9 classes of K1 & K2 * 8 classes of K3.
For 2009-10, there are 11 classes of K1, 12 classes of K2 & 11 classes of K3.

Both my children love the school.  It is not as "traditional" at leaset for English class, it's an English teacher, mostly foreginers, but remember the school is over 50 years old.

The school became very propular because of the government subsidary as well as Mandain as the teaching media.  Some of my son's classmate take both the Chinese & International stream, a make-shift full day school.  This way they have the advantage of both the tradition education to follow the government's "12 years of free education" as well as a chance of International Education if you can afford the shcool fee.  Some parents only come 3 times a week (Chinese stream) because after government's subsidary, monthly school fee is only a few hundred dollars, much cheaper than going to Mandain class or tutor.
You see that's why 學校只接受8月31日前出生的申請, 打後出生要列為waiting list.
細B真係蝕底d……my daughter end up with a very good girl school & it is true that it's difficult for her to pick up in P1.

one more point, even they accepted 細B,細Bcan not starts school until he/she is 2 years old, thus you see why should they accept you when there are so many BB around & ready to pay full year school fee.

Hi TinHay, I shared the same feeling with you. I most probably won't apply my 2nd one to KCS anymore. Before, it's school I think the teachers have hearts. Now, they are spoiled by their popularity and started to choose. They have no patience on the so called "smaller kids". Sad!

My son was born in Nov 07. He also cannot got an interview in Nursery because they don't accept Big kids this year. They asked me to apply K1 but I don't think he can successful in the K1 interview.

I would ask for a refund as it seems that they are cheating on the application fees. It's strange that they accepted the application form but knowing that your kids won't qualified to be admitted to the school due to age requirement. Lingnan said that right before the parents hand in the application form so the parents can decide whether still to submit the form or not. It's not a good practice at all.
