Re: 油天 vs SFA
I will choose 油天.
In fact I faced the same situation two years ago. My son was accepted by SFA and 宣道 and later by 油天 (through interview). Finally, I chose 油天.
From the web sites of both schools, one will find that SFA's secondary school net is not as good as 油天, especially for boys.
The secondary allocation results of SFA is not as good as a few years ago. A lot of boys got seats in 九華, 拔萃 和 英華 previously through central allocation. However, now most boys get seats in 長天. Less and less go to 九華 . 英華 has its own 'dragon' primary school, hence less seats will be available to other schools in future, even within the same net. 拔萃 becomes a DSS school. For 油天, a lot of boys get into 九華, 聖芳濟書院 and 皇仁.
Besides, 油天 provides a lot of chances for students to get themselves involved in various areas. Through such activities, students get more confident and have high interest in reading books and studying. The headmaster is very forward looking. Chinese lessons are (gradually) taught in Putonghua after 1997. The school has 校園電視台, 電子書 etc. all for the benefits of students.
My son always tells me incidents that occured in his class and in the school and I find that the teachers are really patient and well-experienced.
Since 油天 is free, one can use the monthly school fee saved for other purposes, for instance, learning more extra curricular activites, etc.
