yanange, thank you for your advice.
i am quite agree with u about the important of studying Chinese.
So, if i wait the elder one to be P.4, the younger one will be P.2. Will it be unfair to the younger one?
Btw, we are not young and afriad that if we go there few years later, the job opportunity will be lower.
it is a very difficult decision.

I wasn't being too child centric, I wasn't thinking from a parent's perspective. P.4 and P.2 is better then K2 (which was my younger brother's departure point). I assume your kids are at a LS? If so, Chinese is probably taught at a relatively more advance level vs 20 years ago (when I did schooling). I mean some of my friends left HK at P.3 and still know how to read, write and speak Cantonese and Chinese. They liked Chinese songs and watched TVB and order the Chinese newspaper thus they maintain a functional level of Chinese. Some of my friends have repatriated to HK now to work as accountants, HR recruiters, lawyers however they don't work for the "LOCAL" type of companies, they work for more international ones.
Although I have to say I myself liked languages and Canto-pop and Mando-pop so I liked attending Chinese school. I think if you move over to another country after obtaining 2 primary school years of Chinese, this is a good enough foundation for the future functional use, like being able to read and speak. My writing is atrocious at the business level and I prefer reading English for an accurate understanding of business, news and more academic pieces.

AU Citizen, lived in Sydney for 18 years. left HK P.4 Term 1, 9 years old, studied in Sydney, attended USYD (Bachelor of Commerce) and UTS (Masters of Marketing). Now working in HK.

hi all, my husband is an Australian and we relocated to HK 3 years ago. My daughter is turning 1 soon, hopefully can get some advise from here for her education path, eg local/international school,etc.

My husband and his whole family including his brother, father, grandfather were all graduated from brisbane grammar school and our plan is also sending our girl to brisbane girls grammar school at year 11. do you think it is possible to be admitted with hk local/international school background? or better to send her at year7?

we have no plan to return australia until our retirement, so don't really want to let her go so young alone although my husband's family are all in Brisbane.

p.s: I wanna join the whatsapp group as well

澳洲墨爾本 MLC 和 Melbourne girl grammar 同時比了offer 女兒插班讀 2016年7月 Y9 。想請問各位sis 兩間學校校風如何？可否給我意見。謝謝幫忙

我有好多朋友都係MLC畢業，好多都係ABCs, 成家所有姊妹加cousins十幾個都係MLC由prep 到Year 12.
我朋友(男性）個老婆一照到個胎係女，即刻用張ultrasound 相未出世就幫阿女報定，等佢Year 7 返去讀。佢個家族所有啲女都係MLC產品，勁多accountants 同bankers.
澳洲國寶Kylie Minogue 同佢個妹Danielle 都係MLC，MLC就好似香港DGS. 但啲人都幾snobby.

我都有同學Melbourne Girls' Grammar 畢業，都OK.
但我諗我會揀MLC.

Catholic School 來講算唔錯, 但整體來講澳洲啲Catholic Schools 唔夠啲 Independent Schools 咁貴氣。雖然亦都有Catholic Schools 成績唔錯。

澳洲啲 Independent Schools 就好似香港啲DSS直資學校，Catholic Schools 就好似津校。

通常澳洲啲家長負擔唔起仔女讀Independent Schools 都會考慮入Catholic Schools.

但呢幾年澳洲經濟唔掂，好多讀開Independent Schools啲學生都會轉番Catholic Schools 甚至 Public Schools.
所以啲Independent Schools 會收多啲overseas students 補番條數。所有boarding schools 都搏命收overseas students，因澳洲人好多讀唔起。

澳洲神級中學其實係Selective Schools資優學校，淨俾Australian citizens 及 PR讀，絕對唔收overseas students 又唔會有boarding. 政府辦唔駛交學費，但爭崩頭才可以考到入去。各省次次Year 12 公開試，都係Selective Schools 啲排最前。

Fintona Girls School
Shelford Girls Grammar
Lauriston Girls School
Mentone Girls Grammar School
Camberwell Anglican Girls Grammar School

Co-Ed
Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School
Ivanhoe Grammar School

For boys
Trinity Grammar School
Caulfield Grammar School
Camberwell Grammar School

Please be reminded that these are elite schools in Australia, admissions are based on academic merits. Many of these schools are relatively small and are day schools only with no boarding. You may not be able to apply through agents and have to contact the schools directly.

Both schools are in Sydney, not Melbourne. I hope that you realise that.
I went to secondary schools in Melbourne but went to Sydney Uni after. I must say that I know the Melbourne secondary schools better. I only know the Sydney schools by word of mouth that I heard over the years thus the info may not be the most accurate.

Technical schools are for students who are not academically oriented. One of my uncles used to teach in one, he said that the he had to use most of the time managing the students' behavioural issues instead of teaching. Personally I would not send my children to the technical schools by any chance.

Willoughby is a nice suburb, I would definitely choose Willoughby Girls' High.

請問有冇朋友知道Sydney James Ruse 呢間學校，中學如何申請，阿仔係澳洲公民，但而家留港讀小學，想中一返澳洲讀，有冇人知道呢間學校程度如何，我知道佢係精英學校，是否十分難考？謝謝

上網找Sydney Selective School。你個仔係讀國際學校? 或讀本地名校？成績名列前茅？
大把大陸、香港、台灣、南亞、東南亞學生同你個仔爭，大部分仲要係澳洲出生，喺澳洲有去補習考Selective School。如果你個仔英文唔係native水平, 否則就好＂吻＂水，就算係國際學校，英文都唔可以係渣果批。
