i think comments on RM are pretty extreme, people are either never heard of it or will give very good comments about it.
my kid will only start from Sep, so i could only comment on what i have observed during orientation and from other current parents.
Pros:
- Mandarin and English Immersion program with authentic NET (no kidding, for some bilingual schools i've been to, those "NET" have horrible HK accents)
- They provide a list of learning materials for the parents to buy (not cheap) and revise at home, which I personally think that reinforcement of what they have learnt at home is important. I highly appreciate that I could know exactly what they are doing in school.
- Clean campus (they claimed to have air purifier which is the same quality as ICU rooms, I'd consider it to be a gimmick but that I do feel my kid will have less chance of getting sick) and organic food provided at campus(not 100% but still better than none, the principal claimed that 85% of the food are organic)
- Nice settling-in period arrangement for PN. They arrange the PN class to start 2 weeks earlier than KG so that all the teachers in the school can go help out during that two weeks. In addition, they separate the 1 class into two sub-group [1 hour each group]during the first two weeks, this is good that
1. further increase the teachers-students ratio during the critical period
2. for the first week when all the kids are accompanied with parents, the classroom wouldn't be overload. i had experienced in playgroups that 50 people (25 kids + 25 parents) stuff into a normal classroom designed for 25 kids, you can totally imagine how hard it would be and how tiring for the parents who do not even have a place to stand.
Cons:
- remote location (unless you are living in southern district)
- relatively high school fees
- no offense, but the spoken English of the principal is really bad
- large class size (28 students with 2 NET and 1 local qualified teacher)
i think soniagina or other current parents maybe able to share more
