天使麵 ,

你知我記性有幾差架啦! 多了兩星期假, 小朋友開心, 我辛苦好多. 拖長來考試, 對我來說是一種折磨. 放工返來,唔同佢地溫又驚佢地到時唔記得, 溫書小朋友因放假個心很散, 進度好慢.

講起chinese listening, 你提醒左我, 成日放工話要買本chinese listening 比個仔操下,又唔記得. 而家有咁多時間, 你都可以考慮買本做下. 好多小朋友listening呢part都較弱.

With regard to the final examination, nobody knows at this point whether the school will resume on June 26 as planned or not?

It all depends on the latest status of the H1N1 cases in the coming few days and also EDB’s final decision/announcement on June 23.

May be we can let our children do a bit of revision for half day and let them play/relax for half day or something like that.

Tingmum,
The subject my son most afraid of is Chinese Listening and he got the lowest mark among all the subjects (but he said that he got the highest marks in the class?). But actually everyday we speak in Chinese. How to improve the Chinese Listening? This subject tests the kids memorizing capability or the ability to understand the Chinese???

How about we read a story and then ask them back the questions related to the story?? If this works, I can save the money

According to current status, I don't think the schools in HK will resume on June 26. What do you think?

I request my kids do one hour math revision in the morning and play in the afternoon. When I return home in the evening, they have to do 2 hours chinese revision every night. As they have a lot of play time every day, they are happy with my arrangement.:loveliness:

I am so admire you.  You know, you son is doing so good in all the subjects.

I believe my son got the lowest Chinese listening mark among his classmates in last term.  I didn't tell him about this, just said his chinese result is middle in the class.  I wish to use encouraging method to help him.

What I am doing right now for chinese listening is as same as you.  I read chinese story book for him every night and then ask him some questions related to the story.  He is quite enjoy it.  I also bought a P.1 Chinese listening execise from the book shop.  I will do it together with him when I am free.  That is the way I am doing right now.  If you have any good suggestion , please share with me anytime.

Based on the available information that we have at this moment, personally I guess there should be more than 50% chance that the school suspension will continue.
Nevertheless, I still ask my child to do some revision, read some books and play everyday, just in case the final examination will go on.

As you know, the officials of EDB and the Health Department might “think out of the box” sometimes.
Therefore, we still need to wait and see the final announcement on June 23.

Yesterday, my child said she already knew the school would not resume!!

Personally, I also bet that the school suspension will continue and so I didn't ask my son to do any revision.

So basically everyday I asked my son to do Kumon maths, read an English book a day (pick 5 new words and make a meaning sentence for each new word), the rest of the time, he can read Chinese books and do anything he likes.

Tingma,
I found a very interesting series of Chinese books - "Adventurous small tiger team" (sorry that I don't know how to type Chinese). There is a card that you put on the page with the right angle, then it shows the words. It is very exciting. You can easily find it in the well known book stores. I read together with my son at the beginning. After reading 2 books (>100pages per book), he can read by himself now.
I'm looking for some series of Eng. books for my son. Basically he can read those of around 30-40pages. Certainly those Roald Dahl or Geronimo Stilton are too difficult for him and also for me.

1) Although the majority of the parents think it is very unlikely that primary schools will resume on June 26, we may also notice recently that another group of parents are thinking our lives should go on and the kids can go back to schools (they may be minority).
Therefore, I dare not to say for sure now the school suspension will continue. Just in case EDB will announce on June 23 that the school will resume on June 26 as per the original plan, that means we will only have 2 days left to do the revision for the examination to be held on June 26!!
And even worst is that our children have already lost their concentration in doing any revision since the school suspension and I can guarantee that they will perform very badly in case the examination will be held on June 26. My child only watchs TV and plays computer games for most of the time these days.

2) I find Roald Dahl’s books are really popular among kids in HK nowadays.

3) Sorry for not knowing earlier that you do not know how to type in Chinese. Originally I thought you intentionally tried to translate famous Chinese idiom into English!!

Luckily, it was announced that no school for the coming 2 weeks. I prepared a Maths mock paper (actually just copied the Test 1&2 from New Math)for my son and he did it yesterday. He made a lot of careless mistakes and seems he gave back all he learnt to the teachers...

By the way, we would like to go to Thailand (we still keep the money in the travelling agency last time the trip cancelled in Easter) during 6/30 - 7/4.
Any concern if the school will ask us to go back to the school to get the school report or summer homework etc??

1) Luckily, there will be no more final examination in this school term. Otherwise, I do not want to know the results as my child already announced the early summer holiday by herself few days ago!!

2) Following EDB’s announcement today, I think the school will make some new announcements with regard to the summer holiday homework, distribution of academic report card, and so on very soon. I don’t think it will be a big issue for you even though you are not in HK when you will be asked to come back to school to collect the stuff. You can inform the school in advance and arrange for an alternative date/way of collecting the stuff.

3) Thailand is one of the countries in Asia with most H1N1 confirmed cases. Hope you will not be infected there.

阿女個心一早就飛左lu~~就算復課佢都一定冇心機考!!!
為左令佢冇咁悶,我就起千色店買左d電腦學習遊戲俾佢~~另外佢話好想學swimming,我都唔知俾唔俾佢學好~~始終多人ma~~
你地有冇搵暑期活動呀??

初頭冇得考, 佢地好唔開心, 因為剩返的都是較易的科目.....之後心都散晒........話唔使考, 唔知幾開心.

Last year, the class allocation was uploaded on the school website on Aug 27th.

I guess it should be announced in the next 1-2 days.

Many pupils are very keen to know whether their best friends will be in the same class or not?
