1. 現在五歲學生的"午飯問題"好像沒出甚麼亂子.
2. 我問了住沙田第一城的同學媽媽, 她說滿意校車安排.
3. 泳池2007您女兒上學前一定啟用.(一笑)

以上您關心的問題, 我認為不成問題. 一所新校, 短短兩個月間走上運作軌道, 很不錯!再有新問題的話, 07年前有足夠時間改善, 放心好了.

九月登記的一人一樂器, 現在剛過兩個月已經安排了我兒學大提琴, 他很高興, 錯覺以為是老師指定要他學的, 所以特別期待.

Natsze,

While most parents ask whether RC is suitable for their children, few of them think of whether they are eligible RC parents.

My son is now in Yr 2 of RC. To be an RC parent, you have to work with the teaching plan set out by RC. RC does have expectation of their parents. For example, I was asked to go to the school one evening to write a reply letter to my son in 15 minutes and let him present it the next morning.

RC has very little homework. They will invite you to
school quite often so that you can know how your kids are learning.

You have to coach your child's chinese by reading
'每日一篇' with him/her. RC focuses much more on motivation of learning than on intensive teaching.

RC is good for those parents with time, good spoken and written English and good spoken 普通話.

By choosing RC, it implies

1. your child will be a happy learner
2. if you are educated, your child will be educated as well

I like what you said abt RC :

".. motivated learning rather than intensive learning".. There is a big difference. It is easy to keep asking your child to do homework after homework and lots of assessment paper.. but is he motivated ?? I think this philosphy is very important..

Usually, the interview of ESF schools (think it also applies to RC) will be conducted in Feb and the place will be confirmed in March or April.

Don't worry. You can also call the school to ask.

I believed the application for RC is still open. you may call the office 3556 3556 to ask or download application from from website.

I have applied Year 7 admission for my kid and I received a phone call from the school about an english written test this coming Saturday. I were told that if my kid passed the written test, they will have another admission interview in a week or so after the written test. Would like to share with those parents who have submitted Year 7 admission application.

Have received a call from the school last Friday regarding an english written test to be held this Saturday. My son applied admission to Year 7 for 2007.

Couldn't agree with you more. Judging from what you said, I am sure you are a well-qualified RC parent.

Tips for those whose kids will sit for the Yr 7 admission test/interview. Based on my own experience, I think apart from English standard, RC is looking for students who can think --- e.g. express opinions, make judgements and provide justifications. These are not something you can train in a short period of time. So don't try to coach your children. Just encourage them to express themselves and speak their minds.

Although RC is only 3 months old, I have no doubt that it is a good school. It will only be getting better and better based on what I have observed so far.

I met Mr. Muller at the parents night in Sept. Seems like they are still sorting out the admin burden and cannot not figure out the interview schedule for the moment.

I passed by the school a couple of times in the afternoon. My impression is that they have even more caucacians than Shatin Junior and Kowloon Junior.
Shatin Junior mainly has local Chinese.
And Kowloon Junior too, but plus quite a few more Indians.
I am not sure whether this is your concern (actually not mine).

I think emily means more caucasians in RC is even better as caucasians normally speaks in English as mother tongue. Some of my daughters' classmates who are caucasians also choose RC as their parents want them to learn more Chinese.

Caucasians or not, doesn't bother me at all. I see many Asian-looking students in the campus speak perfect English. I do not know about the primary but I think the English speaking environment in the secondary is good.

Let's be more open-minded about the language issue. I see nothing wrong with children talking in the language they feel comfortable with as long as the language they use does not "exclude" anybody around. See what Mr Muller said in the latest primary newsletter on RC web.
