我個仔係兔仔, 仲要係大仔, 至今in咗4間, 都無只有一間收pm, 好彩之前同佢報咗樓下間幼稚園playgroup, 可以直升pn am, 否則真係好愁, 無諗過競爭大成咁, 連樓下普通村校都爭崩頭...
我上統計署查過, 虎年全年出生率大約85000, 兔年就95000, 已經多咗一萬幾, 龍年截止9月已經接近10萬, 仲有3個月未計, 咁起碼12-13萬...你哋話出年競爭幾大, 幾得人驚....所以家下做父母真係好大壓力, 由出世就要怕佢無書讀...

May i know where do you get the 120,000 to 130,000 new born in HK year to Sept 12?  When I checked with the publication (HK monthly digest of Statistics) by HK Statistics department, I only got 67,446 new born in HK from Jan to Sept 12.  (down 5% year on year for same period comparison)
I just don't want the dragan year parents got too panic!  My younger son born in this yr too!

As the bed quota for mainland pregnant ladies at public hospital has been cut a lot in the year 2012, therefore the total number of newborn has dropped statistically. Yet, number of  local citizen babies has been much increased due to dragon year effect. Local citizen babies are the real competitors for local, esp famous kindergartens, so i believe the competitions are still very keen

唔根意c呀,而家先覆,我岩岩報左bambini的playgroup試堂呀,不過而家囡囡上緊協康會的未上完,打算上完先去試堂再join 1歲班, 學校的pg好多都要大d先可以返呀,細個以返個d又有排排隊,排左都未有消息

Hi all, i am a dragon mama too. My son was born in May 12. 8 Months old. He is now attending 2 playgroups: 基督教幼潛 & 協康會 baby gym. The first one focuses on all-round development by introducing parents-kids games. The 2nd one is to train muscle development of babies. I don't choose any musical or language playgroups coz i dun think baby is ready to learn and thus will wait till he turns to 12 month or older.

I am now queuing for the Victoria playgroup & Pips playgroup since my son was 4 months old. And now i am going to gather information of pre-nursery classes and hopefully i won't miss any submission deadlines coz the dragon babies' competition is so keen.

Mine are 協康會@ Yuen Long. Just finished 3 classes. The centre is a bit old but the teacher/assistant are very helpful!

Hi Cathy, how do u think abt 基督教幼潛？does ur child like it? The course was once renown but I heard some bad comments abt it in recent years..... which school division /by which teacher for yr class? Thx!

Hi babieblue,
To be honest, my baby (8 1/2 months old) did not pretty much enjoy the playgroup so far. He is way too young to sit calm and enjoy the games in a group.
I am now attending 1-Hr sunday afternoon session in 基督教幼潛 tsim sha tsui centre. A group of 8 baby-parent pairs, age of 9-10 months Class. Classroom size around 1200sf with the puzzle-style playmats covered. Space and safety is not up to my expectation coz too many chairs are put at the side/corner of the classroom without playmats covered. 1 Auntie and 1 young girl as an assistant lead the class.
Actually the schedule is really packed for a hour...for 5 min toys are given to babies as a warm up. Then parents will be told to get baby to practise stand and walk. At the same time, she will come to each child to observe and give a sticker to the baby as a gift. It takes 10 mins. Circle time begins and sing the 1st song. Auntie will then come to each baby to encourage them to do "give me five" by using a smiling-hand toy. Time for 2nd song and a snack time begins. Baby foods will be provided. Afterwards, two games will be taught in each classes. You may feel not worthwhile if your baby do not enjoy the games.
For my baby only attended 2 out of 10 classes so far, maybe it is not fair to put any positive/ negative comments. I would say, this is a good start to take your baby for this kind of "sing-and-play" playgroup. After the baby is well adapted to the playgroup style, at least he wont cry in the class and pay attention to the teacher, I will then take him to take kindermusik and/or english playgroup.
