Why not?

We say we don't care much about grammar for the young ones because we want to focus on their creativity, cultivate their interest in expressing themselves in words, etc.  These comic strips provide guidance for beginners but at the same time limit the creativity of the more able ones.  For children who read a lot and are 7 years old up, these are probably not required.  Just let their imagination run wild.  Remember, these are after-school activities.

shadeslayer  Because these limit the children's creativity. Only useful for those who are very young and absolute beginners.

you are rare to see things like this, Most parents overburden children by trying too hard. I have learnt to be matured from having a child that the limits of our power. We should realize that we are responsible for protecting personality, not creating it.

I could not help but read the composition. I noticed something which you may or may not noticed. It seems to me he was translating Chinese thoughts in English. Given that he is already reading a lot of books and attending an English primary school with an English environment, not sure what else can be done.

我剛看完聰明仔爸爸既書,真既寫得很具體而又仔細,對自己將來如幫阿囡透過閱讀去提升話文能力是很好的指引。

I am not being harsh, I just have a high expectation given your fostering, the school environment and your son's calibre. Your son's case to me is interesting.

Many HK students don't make the transition into thinking in English when speaking and writing English at all. The method by which they learn English and the environment they are in do not allow them to do so. Like you said your son is still young. He may make the transition anytime.

I know a number of students from a CMI primary school and many of them seem to be able to think in English, at least partially. You can tell by how they said things and how they wrote stories. I don't know for sure what the parents did at home to achieve this. I am almost certain that it was not the school. The only common thing I can see is that they love reading.  When they speak and write Chinese they can switch the thinking back to Chinese.

Calm down, don't be so sensitive.  You have never been shy in posting details of your boy's schoolwork.  If you only welcome positive comments, say it clearly.
Actually, didn't I say something very positive?

"Indeed, may be all he needs is time."
"Like you said your son is still young. He may make the transition anytime. "

I am just saying I have seen some really good CMI kids who can switch between thinking in English and Chinese. It is in response to your saying "My son is not native English Speaker", meaning you do not need to be a native English speaker to start thinking in English.  一山還有一山高, what is wrong with that?

Y2K kids English is probably better than everyone here.  Do we all have to be upset about it?
