Congrats!  I think it is a very special and precious experience if your son can participant in the Speech Festival.  

People might think that the students are just "reading" out a piece of poem or story.  However, a REAL reading of this kind requires serious training and a lot of practice.  Just like playing a musical piece, you can always acquire a higher level of skill.

If your school has joined the Festival for many years, the teachers should be very experienced in the training.  However, if the school is new to this event, there might not be enough attention for each student.

That's why some parents are seeking external support for their kid's training.

There is so much to share if you really want to go deep into this topic.  It is even more complicated if it comes to individual ability and training method.  Pls pm me your unique concerns and I can give you more specific info.

I've checked with 小霹靂.  They can submit only Mandarin and English applications for the Speech Festival, not Cantonese.

Thank you for your information. I am not sure whether the school has joined the Festival for many years or not. But I agree that it is a special and precious experience for my son to participant in the Speech Festival. So I have enrolled for my son through the school.

Hi jfk,

中文朗誦最細的是幼兒朗誦組，凡幼兒園及幼稚園學生均可參加。英文朗誦要小一以上才可以參加。

參加普通話組的同學通常都已經會說普通話，如果只用兩個月時間訓練一個不會普通話的同學以普通話朗誦，效果會差一點。

我的女兒剛三歲，會參加幼兒組，以粵語朗誦。

簡答家長：私人訓練及集體訓練的分別

首先家長應視比賽為一個訓練，不是結果。

而在一般的備賽訓練時，除了要求小朋友做到背誦流暢之外，還要講究發音、咬字、聲線、感情等，而且要達到公開朗讀的水平及培養面對群眾的心理素質，私人訓練在各方面都有較專業的照顧。

再者，每一個學生對文意的理解力和表達力都不同，一對一的訓練有利糾正錯誤，集中訓練較遜色的地方，進步會比較明顯。

加上在一對一的訓練中，有經驗的教練會安排模擬演出及要求同學在陌生人（其他同學或家長）面前朗讀，補足個人訓練欠缺群眾壓力的問題；當然家長亦可以鼓勵同學在家人面前朗讀以作練習。
