哈羅七學生英高考獲四科A*

　　【大公報訊】2016年英國高級程度會考（A-Level）公開考試近日放榜，哈羅香港國際學校第三屆49名畢業生，七人考獲四科A*的最頂尖成績，19人考獲四科或以上A*-A等成績，13人獲得三科或以上A*成績。多人獲牛津、劍橋和愛丁堡大學等世界名校取錄。

　　哈羅香港宣布，畢業生共參加14科考試，考獲的172個分數中，38.4%達到最高A*，74.8%獲得A*-A等級和89.3%取得A*-B等級。大部分本屆畢業生已獲大學取錄，大多前往英國升學。包括於牛津大學攝政公園學院修讀歷史；於牛津大學埃克塞特學院修讀數學及電腦科學；於劍橋大學耶穌學院修讀工程；於劍橋大學唐寧學院修讀經濟；於劍橋大學聖約翰學院修讀自然科學；於劍橋大學莫德林學院修讀人類、社會及政治學；於劍橋大學羅賓遜學院修讀土地經濟；於倫敦政治經濟學院修讀經濟及法律管理；於倫敦大學學院修讀化學及藥劑學；於愛丁堡大學修讀國際關係。同時，部分學生獲得美國加州大學柏克萊分校、香港大學和香港科技大學商學院取錄。
　　哈羅香港校長Mel Mrowiec，對畢業生的佳績深感欣喜。

不過英基都有25% 學生得到40 分以上，世界上亦係超曬班。

講真，俾得起錢就一定送去哈羅。
同英基根本冇得比。
你要比成績，又未必apply到自己小朋友身上。
睇你信唔信IB..., 仲有哈羅師資一定唔會差，背著英國名校之名，你會唔會用港大vs 牛津？

所言什是。各有各不同之處。
下年year 1 (18/19) 都會由三班改增至四班，一班24人左右，減去兄弟姊妹優先權，可能都有十幾個位。k1（18/19 ）都好似由三班改四班，把握機會。

Just heard that Harrow only got around 10 vacancies open for public , others 14 seats r hving priority , sibling , ICC holders or etc... more girls apply the school, boy may Be less competitive ...

BHS By catchment area. RC is independent school , no limitations on living region.

係呀，如果純由一年級直升到畢業，要等7年後先見到成績，開校只不過有六年。不過，入學好似越來越困難，之前新校，都吾係一申請就入到，現在毎年級都要爭位，不少有兄弟姐妹優先權都入吾到，因為要過佢個評估。

有朋友聽說有不少例子有買債卷，都只係得面試機會，不少世界五百強公司要員子女都過吾到面試。呢閜學校，出左名冇人事，冇人情講。

其實在英國出名的 private school  如 harrow 和 eton 都是從 grade 9 開始, 即 學生也只在 學校最多5 年, wycombe abbey 也只得從grade 7 開始 , 即也最多7 年. 所以他們的学生也是從其它pre prep school 轉過去. 對於lower school, 我會更看重學校的理念與父母的要求是否一至 ,   公開試成績為次.  再者在香港的国際學校內的higher school 部份, 到graduation 時, 學生從本校的小學一直升來的比例也不高吧 ?

In terms of fees, Harrow is more expensive.
ESF/RC are cheaper, and by looking at their IB results, I guess I can say they are value for money.
I would rather not say something like "if you can afford, of course harrow".
Parents always tend to fall into this trap of believing that they should take the most expensive option they can afford.
However, it might not always be true that "the more expensive the better".
Harrow and ESF/RC are just very different. There are a lot of people that can afford Harrow and would still choose ESF/RC.
When comparing RC and BHS, RC is a huge school with primary and secondary on the same campus. BHS is a small school with only primary.
So you had better set out your own criteria and decide for yourself.
And after all, I guess at the moment, you do not have any choices yet.
You should accept Harrow's offer since you have yet to even attend interview at ESF/RC. And apparently a huge percentage of students that attend interview at ESF/RC do not get offer.

對，因為入吾到佢個k1 ，就難入到小學，就更更難入到中學。
不過，過了龍年，出生率下降，少左雙非，可能d位多d瓜。

Thx a lot. That's true. We also need to counter in the traveling time to school in comparison and it is only a very personal issue.

I am struggling on the same issue, sjs/rc or harrow. I talked with some harrow parents, and just know that harrow is quite traditional, focusing on discipline and academic, may be a little bit too strict than I expect.

My son started school at Harrow since K2, he is now in year 2 and I have to say my son loved the school and I am very satisfied with the teachers and admin staff.

Like some of ther other parents here at the forum, we have hesitation when applying Harrow (since the school is relatively new).  Frankly Harrow was not in my rador in our first round of school applicaton (we think it's too far for us, we lived on the island side), my 1st choice was CIS or HKIS.  Unfortunately my son was only on their waiting list and we knew it will be impossible to get in (some of my other friend's kid couldn't get in even with subling in the same school). For 2nd round application, we applied the other less competitive int'l schools. We finally got offers from ESF kindergarten, Yew Chung and Harrow.  After serious consideration, we admitted into Harrow for K2.
The school is actually better than we thought, it is relatively strict and disciplined compared to other int'l school.  Please do not think that it has lots of mainlanders, you will find more westerners than Chinese.  My son's class has a mix of students with different nationalities.  Most student's family are very well educated and are friendly (even if they are super rich).
