PISA 2012 Results

Thanks.

It is the second time Shanghai entered and twice they scored highest in the world. It is also interesting to see Liechstenstein could do so well and Finland dropping behind. We all know in Asian countries, student work extremely hard, do we want to study Liechstenstein education from now on?

The more bizzare a thing is, the less mysterious it proves to be.

We all know in Asian countries, student work extremely hard, do we want to study Liechstenstein education from now on?

Liechstenstein is a very small country. I think we can't just follow whatever they have done bcos of the scale of operation. Everyone has up and down. Finland is not an exception.

The literacy rate of Liechtenstein is 100%. The Programme for International Student Assessment, coordinated by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, currently ranks Liechtenstein's education as the 10th best in the world.

It has an estimated population of 35,000.

上海不單3項奪冠, 其分數還遠遠拋離第二名.

【明報專訊】測試全球65個國家及地區逾51萬名15歲學生水平的「學生能力國際評估計劃」（PISA）昨公布結果，香港學生的閱讀及科學能力均升至第2名，數學則保持第3位。雖然港生得分是歷年最高，但進步幅度遠遜其他地區，包括3個項目均蟬聯榜首的上海，負責研究的本港學者推斷，港生排名長遠恐墮後。

PISA由經濟合作與發展組織（OECD）策劃，每3年舉辦一次，昨公布2012年研究結果。中文大學教育研究所去年隨機抽樣近5,000名港生接受PISA測試，評估其數學、科學及閱讀方面的能力。港生在各方面能力均居前列，數學排名第3，與上一次研究（2009年）一樣，閱讀和科學能力均排第2名，分別較上屆上升2位及1位。

尖子比例不及上海星洲台北

數學是今次研究的主要領域，對上一次同以數學為主的研究於2003年進行。研究指出，雖然港生3個項目的分數均是歷年最高，反映教育優化，但港生分數增長較其他地區少，例如台北及澳門學生數學表現均有雙位數增長，但港生僅進步6分。中大教育行政與政策學系教授何瑞珠推斷，長遠香港的排名或會墮後，建議當局正視情。

學者﹕重考試能力高眼光淺

何又說，港生尖子比例低，僅佔12.3%，遠遜上海（30.8%）、新加坡（19%）及台北（18%）。參與研究的港大教育學院高級講師黃家樂分析，港生過分重考試成績，即使能力高，目標和眼光卻淺窄，「心中只有考試，無法多元發展」。何瑞珠亦稱，除公開試，香港各類評核如系統性評估（TSA）被誤用作判斷學校好壞，而非評估學習效能，學生則為此「操試題」，若情持續將「成為災難」，認為政府須檢討政策。

對學數焦慮感高於平均

研究又發現，港生對學習數學的焦慮感，較參與研究的其他地區學生平均值為高。何瑞珠表示，望子女成龍成鳳的「虎爸虎媽」，每每要求子女學習標準答案，容易令子女變成「讀書只為滿足父母要求」。何勸戒家長，急於求成反易令子女失去信心和學習動力，扼殺長遠發展。

此外，本港男生的數學成績明顯高於女生，女生的閱讀能力則拋離男生，何瑞珠認為源於兩性角色定型的「刻板教學」，例如把女生定性為數理能力較差，建議教師因材施教。

研究又分析不同類型學校學生的表現，發現學校的社經地位（即校內大部分學生的社經背景），對學生成績造成的影響較前縮窄，但仍然顯著。何認為，若是學費令各校社經地位有差異，當局應「掃走」有關差異。

各校差異縮教局﹕均等優化

中大教育心理學講座教授侯傑泰則認為，按PISA數據，不能歸納出香港尖子比率偏低，他解釋，新加坡整體數學表現佳，達尖子程度的學生自然亦較香港多。他補充，PISA的研究結果只供參考，1至4位的排名時有波幅，受多重因素影響，不能以此說明某個地區的學生能力較另一地區優勝。

教育局指出，港生在PISA的表現優異，學校間的成績差異逐步縮小，反映本港基礎教育正朝優化而均等的方向發展。

家長愈少談論學業　子女整體表現愈佳

【明報專訊】中大香港教育研究所公布的PISA研究結果發現，數學成績最佳的學生，與家長最少談及學業；另家長愈多與子女閒談學業以外的事情，如談論時事、電影、電視節目、書刊或學校生活等，子女的整體表現愈佳。育有3名子女的沙田崇真中學校長張文偉，在子女年幼時就每日與太太分工跟子女傾談，他負責與子女討論社會時事，妻子則負責聆聽子女心事及品德培育。

校長晚飯熄電視全家傾偈

現時張校長的長女在港大讀醫科，二女在國際學校讀中六，孻子則讀中三。張校長透露，由子女小學開始，晚飯時間一定不會開電視，而會定為一家「傾偈時間」。他笑指自己是子女的「學術討論對象」，經常與兩名女兒討論新聞及時事，如佔中、居港權及同性戀議題等，「我多年來都盡量堅持每晚回家吃飯，盡量不會參與黃昏或晚上的會議」。

張校長形容其妻是子女的精神支柱，負責教導子女人生道理，及與人相處之道，並分享自己的經歷。張校長說，女兒在考試期間壓力大，會與媽媽更多傾談，「有時女兒溫書溫到晚上9時多，會叫媽媽一起到城門河河邊傾偈，傾45分鐘或一個鐘」。

張校長又說，二女性格率性而為，小時候不是很受老師歡迎，自我形象較低，但媽媽會肯定女兒的優點，如得悉女兒在校內會特意與被排斥的同學一組做報告，便稱讚她內心良善，以提升女兒自信。

這幾點可圈可點

1。台北及澳門學生數學表現均有雙位數增長，但港生僅進步6分。中大教育行政與政策學系教授何瑞珠推斷，長遠香港的排名或會墮後，建議當局正視情況。

3。研究又發現，港生對學習數學的焦慮感，較參與研究的其他地區學生平均值為高。

第二點在EK是熟門課題，操練TSA來高增值，好在不是我講！

M1M2之後，香港數學不斷落後，但根本看不到。

No TV for us. Dinner discussion at least 4 nights in a week. Mostly sharing though I try to drop in current affairs once in awhile. I think better to add current affairs when they are more mature. How did you do it before?

Thank you for sharing. What is your take on it? I try not to make too much out of a single year's result. But very interesting to note that Shanghai is significantly out-performing others.

孩子小時，電視較影響大，所以有限制。
到中學，網絡反而影響大，到有智能電話，又有改變。

相對你們，我較寬鬆，但時代不同，科技不同，好難講把尺放在那兒。

你的做法我覺得合理，現在我們都有討論時事，不過不一定面對靣，可能是用WhatsApp或FB。

This is not the first time Shanghai top all three scores. The last PISA 2009 was the first time Shanghai joined this test and the results were the same - all top. Scholars commented it was due to the fact that those students in the city were elites. They are also exam-oriented and pay attention to this opportunity to do something for their country!
