英文作文較弱的一環

不少家長都說自己的小孩英文作文水平比較弱，不知如何才能提升他們的寫作能力，歡迎一起來交流。

我见过这样的教导：
1。跟着几条问题的思路：
a. When did it happen? how was the weather?
b. Who did it?
c. What happened?
d. Why did it happen?
e. What was the most interesting/special part of the event?
f. How did you feel? or what did you learn?

以一般小学程度的要求，如果是写100字journal,或故事形式的文章，就肯定够用。

2. 如果话写完整句子的文法都不太懂，怎样连接都不大会。。。
捷径：
最好是找数篇正确工整的文章，把它背起来。但不止这样，要每一句，帮他做drilling.例如：Last Monday was a sunny day.  要问他如果是Tuesday呢？他就回答：Last Tuesday was a sunny day. 如果是下雨天呢？又可不可以在sunny之前多加一个adverb呢？例如 "amazingly"...简单一句话，已经可以让他学/背很多词语，以后写文章都可以用到。

扎实功夫：
当然是多阅读，无他法。

P1-P2 - learn sight words, use the sight words to write stories, don't correct their grammar, just to motivate their inerest in "making up" stories..

I sometimes ask her to draw few pictures, then based on the pictures, to write stories.

P4-P6
More focusing on how to put ideas into a focused theme (introduction), then organize the ideas into few paragraph with the same theme (content/main body) and finally with a summary/conclusion + brief personal reflections.

If kids love reading books, more choices of words. If not, still ok, using simple English. Every kid is different in terms of reading level, I won't mind they use repeated words or simple words if he/she is not a book worm.

I will correct grammar at this level, and push them to have ideas...

This is what my son told me for story writing.

Planning first by listing out characters, setting, problem and solution.  The usual step is introduction, main contents and then conclusion.

However, I know that certain groups of kids may not enjoy the "traditional " types of readings. Those who are bookworms are obviously easier to teach.

For those non-bookworms, any suggestions?

My son is typical bookworm and I don't have to worry about his writing, but I get him a thesaurus dictionary and encourage him to use new words.

你的孩子(11歲)英文真super,相信可比美一流大學生英文程度,如果加上數學天才,一定能成為另一個神奇小子直升上大學,努力培訓佢.

Girfted child only composed a very small percentage. Training gifted children may have different ways when we work with children who are not gifted.

the above example is different from the norm. It's an exceptional case only. I am not targeting at this level for my kid in writing. He needs to learn according to his own pace.

Excellent sharing on how you facilitate and nurture your child's creative writing potential. I got your point of view, and that's very useful in expanding my views on teaching my kids.

Will the same method applying to Chinese language writing as well?

其实，我都想问这个问题。在international school,要找一个会写eng文章的学生，肯定大有人在，但大部分BK家长，都希望自己的儿女是中英并好的。能在mainstream读书，又可以中英文都写得出众的，有什么秘诀呢？

No quick fix, I believe, start from the foundation.

1) Vol. building;

2) love readings and new knowledge

3) love to express daily life experiences in writings

4) teach them organization skills

5) teach them to express feelings, feel comfortable to write their own feelings (feel safe to express feelings and emotions at home, with peers and with teachers), to express their opinion (extensive knoweldge base in general knowledge), to have critical mind (have own positions and opinions, enquiry mind)

6) practise and improve

These are the work that I am working with the kids, based on their level of understanding and progress.

我4.5歲女兒的情況便是英文閱讀能力比中文超前了許多.
我認同spantan的說法, 我女已認定英文作主語言, 副語中文自然會有落後.這是正常不過的事.

但問題是我們未能負擔國際學校的學費, 我當然會幫她報考一些以英語為主的直資/私校, 但若考不到, 他日女兒有很大可能會升讀本地傳統小學, 這樣就令我十分憂慮. 因為本地傳統小學對中文的要求很高, 我現在在掙扎中.....K2-3這段時間, 應該中英並重, 盡力加強中文, 還是讓女兒專注於英語閱讀和寫句, 起碼有一樣語文能力領先?

如果孩子要在主流学校读书，跟本不用烦恼，就是一定要读好中文，no choice，除非选法文... 但如果希望他们长大后，留在华语区生活工作，又为什么不好好培养他们的中文呢？很多家长都说，即使是在中学，成绩死在中文上的比例，通常高于英文很多。。。所以，即使英文劲到识飞，但中文低水，整体成绩都只会堕后。
