Allow me to say something NOT as a prospective parent of SLS.  In order to better support the prospective parents this year, I was there last Saturday at school also.

I believe you have attended the 9:30am briefing session.  The explanation concerning the arrangement was not perfect so it may lead you to think this way.  In fact, another parent in the 11:00am session has voiced out during Q&A and so those parents would have better idea.

Actually, there is a small number of boys attending the prep course, remaining as waiting-listed.  So, these students are those who may have lower priority as I mentioned earlier.  So, these are the students who were being referred to, which was not being mentioned clearly in the early session.

All accepted students are treated the same, whether their parents decide to participate in the lucky draw or not.  Hope this help to clarify your concern.

I guess you are fortunate to have an old boy like myself who care about the parents enough to attend the briefing sessions.  So I am able to share this information with you here.  It is better for you to ask the school directly in the future.

No, the students will NOT be rejected because of joining the lucky draw.  It was a mis-understanding.

If there are such important notice, then I think there will be formal notices from the school.

I think this is a normal arrangement for a school to meet again if they would give a second chance to either re-assess or discuss with you concerning your son's chance.

我在家長簡介會聽到的訊息是：

「所有人都有權參與統一派位（即大抽獎），包括已被取錄或備取的。」

副校亦曾經說過坐係度嘅家長只要「有心」選該校就一定有位留給大家，我相信所指的是一份誠意。可能有點跟現實抽離，但香港還是有真正有心做好教育的學校，聖類斯肯定是我所知的其中一間。

當一個家長能明白這背後真正的意義，根本不需要擔心一間學校讓不讓你抽獎，這道門會為真正有心選此校的家長一直打開着。

haha, mine is a daughter so she cannot attend SLS!  I will send her to SLS without a single doubt if it is allowed!

I only know from the past few years, there are applications after lucky draw from those who didn't apply before.  And personally I know there are successful cases.

But this is really from the past.  I have observed the kindergarten and primary applications the past few years, and it seems both sides have gotten a bit "crazy" this year.  So, it is very hard to predict based on the history this year.

Nonetheless, it's never too late to try.  However, definitely will need to wait until June to have any chances.  Lucky draw is a very key event for all the private schools which allow lucky draw.  No one can predict the outcomes.

Hi Arkcocoon,

I don't know if I am appropriate to give any suggestions because obviously I know too well of what has happened.  One key issue really is both the school itself and the school sponsoring organization are too 'low-profile".  As a result, in today's society where people prefer to have more publicity, the school lost the edge on attracting students.  What this has affected is the quality of S1 intakes so this hurts the school on the image to outsiders.

As I have returned to help the school in the past few years, you would find there are more information being shared but this will take many years to revitalize the image.  I can totally understand why some parents would have that impressions and I also respect that.  At the end, it is impossible for this school to be so high-profile as other schools since it is definitely not the style of the school.  We are more down to earth and that is the fact.  We have no intention to change it but I do think sharing of information in reasonable manners is good for both the parents, students and the school itself.  Hope the parents can understand this too.

what a quick reply!  Hope you didn't wait too long for me to reply, sorry that I really cannot attend EK all day long to make the responses sooner.

Thanks for the appreciation but just like all the old boys working with me, we all felt we have the responsibility to support the school.  We are who we are because of the valuable education we received from this school.  It is the traditional of the school value that we need to protect.  Hope you and your son would agree with that too, and if so, then you would have found the right school for him.

p.s. I think I will continue to support the school as an old boy, with many more years to come.

As far as I know, it is allowed to attend the lucky draw
