Entrance Requirements for Bachelor's Degree Programmes (for 2016 Entry)
The qualifications listed below are the minimum required for satisfying the General Entrance Requirements for bachelor's degree study. In addition to the General Entrance Requirements, individual degrees/majors may require a specific subject background. Please refer to the respective programme page for details.

Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination See JUPAS (HKDSE)      
GCE System
(GCE A-level and GCSE) Grade E or above in three General Certificate of Education A-level (or A2) subjects. Two Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level subjects will be considered equivalent to one GCE A-Level. The same subject may not be counted at both the A Level and AS Level;
AND
Grade C or above in GCSE English/English Language or English Literature, or a TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 79 (Internet-based test), or an IELTS overall band score of 6.5.     
International Baccalaureate (IB) International Baccalaureate Diploma with an overall minimum score of 28 for admission with Advanced Standing I; and an overall minimum score of 24 for admission to first-year studies.     
Post-Secondary Study
An accredited Associate Degree / Higher Diploma or equivalent qualification (final year or graduates)   
A Higher Diploma from the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education   
Completion of one year of Associate Degree / Higher Diploma (non-final year, with CGPA ≥3.0 or equivalent overall mark). [For applicants with a 13-year high school qualification (e.g. IB, GCE), advanced standing may be considered.]
      
Bachelor's Degree study of one year or more/Postgraduate study     
Non-local Qualifications
Most school-leaving qualifications acceptable for university entry are recognised. Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained in a language other than English will need a satisfactory score in TOEFL [550 (paper-based test) or 79 (Internet-based test)], an IELTS (overall band score of 6.5), or other acceptable English qualifications.

中學文憑試（DSE）中文科「肥佬」的考生，重燃入大學曙光。被喻為「死亡之卷」的中文科考起不少考生，未達三級者不符升讀大學最低門檻，但原來大學會酌情處理中文科「肥佬」個案，曾有考生中文獲2級，但有四科取得5**佳績，向心儀學系叩門，取得面試機會，終獲破格取錄。香港大學、中文大學、科技大學均有取錄中文不達標學生，強調各取錄個案都經謹慎考慮                                                                                                                                                  eg.中大學生刊物《大學線》報道，現時就讀大學數學系二年級的阿楚（化名），文憑試考獲四科5**及一科5*佳績，但中文只有2級，不符合報讀大學的最低要求。阿楚的班主任提議他向大學叩門求情，校長亦為他寫推薦信。最後，大學教授為阿楚安排面試，要求他即場英文作文，最終阿楚在大學聯招以第一志願獲該系錄取。
