Wah Yan in 自行 looks for Band 1A students. So, the chance of 自行 is very low unless your son has relationship with them, such as his father or brothers graduated or are studying at Wah Yan.

Your son is band 1b. As your son's school has 170 students, band 1a students should be the top 18.

However, last year I went to Wah Yan with my friend whose son had interview. We talked to some parents whose sons had also attended the interviews. Their sons were top 10 in their schools. This may be a good information for you.

Wah Yan is a good school. Their DSE results were not bad (belonging to band 1 schools), similar to St Joseph's and King's, but lower than Queen's. They have a new principal who was also a graduate of Wah Yan. In Parent's Day, the assistant principal said that the school would like to keep good performance in DSE and told the new students to work hard (my friend told me this as her son entered the school this year). So, we can wait and see what the new principal can do for Wah Yan.

你囝囝都是B1A生(高小25-30/170), 可以一試! 囝囝(20-25/124)和另外一個同學都是外來生, 成績跟你囝囝差不多, 港華都有收, 但要緊記面試技巧(50%)及英文非常重要, 而且要表現有好強的自信心.

Oh I see. But, we met a few parents whose sons were all top 10. So, congratulations to your son and thanks for sharing the information. However, when you check for 25-30 out of 170, the student should be B1B (not B1A). If your son is 20-25 out of 124, then he should be B1B (not B1A) too. I don't mean to offend, but just want to clarify the information.

To longfung: Perhaps you can ask other parents how to calculate the general number of B1A students for a school. Of course, your case is a specific case, not a general case. Raimondi is not a very high status school, so the general calculation should be applied to their school.

其實真的間間學校都不同, 就在我自己區內, 成績好的小學可以有70 - 80%學生是B1, 差的只有30%是B1, 真的不能一概而論.
