升中考FCE, 不如考GCE English 直接一点....

Take the IGCSE results for F1 application is great. you can tell the teacher, my son is guaranteed with IGCSE.

Maybe next year, we will know somebody 's kid take university course when thet apply for F1.....

Every year, there are some outstanding students. But only some...... few..

I read some post that QC has some student have FCE results in F1.But it is minority. Don't take it a norm!

Do you think it is so sad for a child of 11 or 12 if he can cook, he can drive and now he needs to fly...

在今天之前，我沒有聽過FCE。作為一個小六生的媽媽，真有點追不上潮流的感覺。看上面的資料，感覺此證書適用於成人在找工作時用。
但一個小學生，真的為了升中，而需要考這類試嗎？現在的中學收生時，真是那麼看重申請人具有超越小六生程度的能力嗎？如中一生，已具備中三（或更高）的英語程度，那他在中學學甚麼？

How is standard of PET and FCE compare with that of GCE/IGCSE "O - level" and "A-level" English? For a girl got a distinction in FCE, does it mean that she has got an "A" in GCE "O-level"?

I think FCE is same level as GCE/IGCSE (English as Second language), both are at (CEF)B2 level.

U1? You mean University first year? No, she is in P6 now and will be studying Form 1 after summer this year. She got a distinction in FCE.

咁又唔使講到FCE咁誇張，程度等於中三，四到，小女P.5學期尾都考左合格，其實而家好多仔仔女女都好勁，對於佢地來講係可以應付，你地可能唔知，台灣果邊有幾個十二，三歲已經考左CPE合格既 C級，係亞洲記錄，相信重未有人破，程度真係可以用作入大學考試。

講到FCE咁誇張程度等於中三，四到到那個程度自已看吧

個人經驗，呢D試對考直資無完。每間學校都要用英文面試，同學一開口便知是龍是蟲。與其浪費時間在這些不合程度的考試，讀好自己的書好過。

Agreed with JustAParent,
My kid is P3 & study in EMI school.
If your kid study in EMI school, I think that KET,PET,PET or higher is not important.
Do you think most P1 or P2 take good result in Flyer
OR P3 take good result in KET or PET.
All of this examination requested by parent not by school.
The english standard of my kid is normal or little higher then main stream school.
He assume all P5/6 student can pass Flyer or KET without any training.
Actually, most student completd the target before P4.
P5 or P6 with FCE is usful for seeking S1 place?
It is no use, just a liitle credit.
Do take English Cert as a ticket for S1 only.
Main is all round result & good interview performance.
It is a good ticket for S1.

I would agree it is a never ending story.

1 is good; 2 is better; how about 3...4....10...

Going for excellence, I would suggest going for IGCSE. Don't waste time. As I say in the previous post, telling the teacher how great you are.

Being a reasonable parent, I would not ask my son to learn how to drive a car now, at the age of 12.

Pet is a reasonable level or good for F1-2. I don't think FCE is a normal standard for P6. Please check what is the passing rate of English of HKCEE...

if student pass FCE in P6, I don't understand why they cannot pass HKCEE after 5 years or they should get distinction in GCE As english in F5

. You can check the English course for CAE, CPE of cambridge it would not take you 5 years to complete.

If your kid has special talent in language or study in few Elite schools, it may be a different story.
But I believe it is not a general standard, even for band 1 students only.

Of course, English is only one of the selection criterions for F1. Good Luck
