9月中要到UK開學, 現在未訂好詳細安排.請問約幾時要book好air ticket ?

12月尾回港, 是否又要好早book定air ticket ?

係咪已經出左 student visa?

confirm左12/1月 term break日子於就可以訂。

Thanks for the reply.

He does not require a student visa.  Theoretically, he can book air ticket at any time from now.  But he hasn't confirmed any details yet, e.g. whether he wants me to go with him.
Thus, I just wonder if we can still book air ticket later in June or July.

I believe that Sept is the peak season.  Just worry if this would be too late to secure an air ticket.

既然唔洗攪visa, 任何時間你都可以book機票，越遲買越貴only，如果到時買唔到直航，實有轉機可以買。

9月飛英，機票係好貴，亦好搶手。我在去年10月已買，要1萬1千，直航，好貴囉，連續兩年嘅9月都係過萬。

I can only wait after the release of DSE result. My son already got the conditional offer from several U. Depends on which U he finally gets into, then I will book the flight immediately (no choice but need to wait).
I don't plan to fly to UK. He needs to start to self-learn to take care of himself.

wow, I don't expect air ticket to UK is that expensive.
Is that price for return ticket as well i.e. 2 trips for going to UK + back to HK ?

Since son has not decided the exact date to come back in Dec, I guess we can only buy one-way ticket to UK now.

Know that teenager needs to learn to be independent.
But still struggling if I should go with him and stay there for a short while.

我仔上年9月去開學時，
係買單程機票，因為未知幾時term break,
買北京/上海轉機，平D。

當時我陪佢去，留一星期多D，
主要想睇下宿舍/學校環境，
陪佢去買D日用品，羽絨被枕頭，
幫手搬入宿舍等。

唔知你子女是否有在英國生活經驗，
否則都係陪下佢會好D。

上年佢係要等visa,
所以我哋係8月尾先至買機票，
但今年就最好早D買，
而且留意機票日子/時間會被改動。

My son has never been to UK. And it is his first time to study aboard.
年青人仲十五十六, 未決定是否想我去陪他, 我又worry太遲買不到機票.

你係可以買CX student ticket嘅flex， flex係無限次免手續費改日子嘅，但可能要補番機票差價，例如你本身係M class, 改新嘅日期機票係K class, 就可能要補番差價，但就免手續費（平時普通改機票係要額外付1800蚊手續費）。如果同時M class就唔駛補錢的

回程機票日期嘅限制係去程起一年內的日子任改

雖然flexi 係貴少少，但佢會送多一件行李，即係可寄艙3件，如果第一次出去留學，應該都好多野帶，3年行李應該都適合

I also intend to buy direct flight ticket.  So Cathay must be the first choice.
I have joined Cathay as member.

Glad to know that the return ticket can be booked within 1 year.
I saw from Cathay's web that Economy Flex can be changed unlimited times too.

But I wonder if I can reserve specific seat when we do the booking online (or is seat reservation only done 48 hours before the flight).

And also is it easy to book the preferred seat or even extra legroom seat ?

無關membership，Flex 係免費可以係買機票時揀位或免費直接揀extra legroom位的（平時普通的機票揀extra legroom 時是要extra付千幾蚊的），所以Flex係相對比 essential同light貴少少，因為佢免費送多一件行李和多咗少少privilege

你唔放心，都係同佢去一轉啦！做媽媽的心情我好明白嘅，你去與否又唔使阿仔批准，你想去就同佢去，買機票都係要買就趁早買，機票只會越睇就越貴，買國泰學生票係比較好，又會平些少又可以改。你同佢去嘅好處係行李又多啲quota，第一次去英國讀書好多嘢要帶。

特別宜家油價加左，
大件野，不如到埗買或Amazon訂。

非必要都唔由香港寄，運費勁貴。喺Amazon 買啦。我嗰喺英國讀咗三年書，我都唔會用hk post office send 嘢俾佢，你睇吓個郵費就明，
