My daughter is P.6 student of 培正. We have received offer from St Stephen 赤柱. 點揀?

Depends on your study plan. If you want your child to study aboard or opt for IB syllabus, St Stephen's will be a better choice. Though I graduated from SSC, I didn't pick this school for my son.

I know Pui Ching not well. Thus I can't give you objective comment.

One last thing to share, don't pick the school because of the beautiful scene. Choose it if you see the study norm, syllabus, school mission, student quality, etc meet your expectation. Lastly, travel is also a consideration, unless you plan to be a boarder.

why you not decided to go for Pui Ching after all these years of study in primary school?

I know nothing about Pui Ching, but I like St Stephen...

培正雖然是中中，但一直都用英文課本授課，又是band 1, 校址又方便。你的小孩又是從小學上去，應該很有歸屬感，為什麼要走？況且st Stephen 的成績應不及培正。

不用懷疑，無論香港培正定澳門培正，二十年前已使用英文課本，我的弟弟正是校友。

My other opinions are - your daughter will have lots of classmates to study in secondary school, not school fee, she knows more about the school environment, teachers... 培正雖然是中中，however, 培正is one of the top 中中 (the other is 金文泰)。My friend got very good result in HKCEE in a band 1 school in Kowloon City District, she finally selected 培正 to study F.6. My friend daughter graduated from 培正primary school (P1-P6), she is studying F.2 this year... 培正is one of my dream school but my son did not get offer for P1... So, I will select 培正.

培正達標開全英彈性班

消息稱根據○八、○九學年的中學派位成績，部分中中已達每班有八成五屬全港「前列四成」的中一生，合乎資格開設全級彈性班。培正中學是其中一間達標可開設六班全英文彈性班的中中，但校長葉賜添不諱言，該校五十年來堅持以廣東話授課，並加插多元化的中、英文教材，務求令學生中英兼擅，這種教學理念將不會受「微調」方案影響而改變。

我敢寫包單，培正大部分學生英文好極有限，我不是聽邊個阿仔阿女講，我本身就是紅藍兒女。要學好一種語言，不是用幾本英文書就能辦到的。
但家長還是要想清楚，究竟你和子女想要一間什麼中學？培正從來強項是數理，怎會拉到英文來？

培正是一所很好很好的中中！如果你沒打算到外地升學，以公開試成績計，它一定比St Stephen 好！
但我覺得如果不用考慮昂貴的學費，目的是提升英語的話 / 打算到外地讀書，便選St Stephen

為小朋友選學校, 要看長線. 例如將來在本地或外國升學, 文理商醫, 有什麼興趣, 學士碩士博士, 想讀到那裡. 一些家長把英中神化了, 英文本身就不是難學的語言, 只是中中少了一個英語的語境罷了. 如果你對培正有少許認識, 該聽過紅藍兒女遍天下, 我不少中學同學到歐洲日本升學, 語言由零開始, 現在還不是一口流俐德文法文日文. 況且, 如我之前所說, 大部分學生英文是"好極有限", 不是不懂. 如果你已計劃子女將來到外國升學, 只要他不躲在唐人街, 英文一定可以學好.
相反, 如果你子女想在理科發展, 或做學術研究, 小時數理邏輯訓練就十分重要. 錯過了就錯過了, 長大後無法補救. 我親身經驗告訴你, 培正的數理訓練, 足以令其中上的學生在任何頂尖學院理科工程科讀到博士班. 當然, 如果你子女志不在此, 培正未必是好選擇.

讀緊培正又只考了出面一間學校? 證明妳好鍾愛呢一間啦! St Stephen. 如果女兒不是理科人才, 就不要留在培正浪費時間. 要清楚女兒的強項及興趣為先!

I will choose to avoid excessive travelling time.
In terms of English standard, SSC must be well above Pui Ching cos many native Eng teachers and many western children studied there.

誠然培正的理科非常好!正如你所說，視乎小朋友有否此方面的能力和興趣!但其實興趣會改變，記得我讀中學時因地理老師教得好，便喜歡此科!

同意，孩子興趣會變。但理科性質特殊，時機錯過了就錯過了，如何決定，要考父母的功夫了

其實兩者選其一，如果兒子數理強，我都揀培正!以非母語學理科，十分難!寧願花錢，另覓途徑，提升其英語能力!換言之選校也需考慮該校的強項是否配合孩子的特質了!
