My son is also waiting for a long time already.  I am very nervous and disappointed now becuase I haven't received any news up to now.

Do you mind tell us about the quality of your kid's classmate?  Overall average score in P6 1st term?  Any music or sports special skill?

My son has an overall average score of 89 in P6 1st term.  Is it good enough ?

你個囝讀邊間小學,89分係好好成績了,但係dbspd,英数有f2,3 程度,所以表現好重要

H didima,

My son is studying in a quite famous primary school in Kowloon Tong.  I guess he was not (yet) selected because he don't have too outstanding performance in music or sports.  Quite a lots of his classmates with lower academic result had been accepted by DBS.  Mainly due to better performance in music/sports.  Isn't it unfair?

Very disappointed !  I think the whole process is almost finished.

Up to now, I still haven't received any reject letter.  Anybody has received it?  Thanks!

DO you mind tell us the situation of you son? Is he in the music, sports or academic queue? How is his academic result?

Do you know what's the overall average mark required to be accepted in the academic queue?

The acceptance rule is clearly stated by DBS in the parent information session that the S1 space allocation portion is 1/3 for each of the sports / music / academic talented students.
Just imagine there are over 600 primary schools in Hong Kong.
If only the top student from each school is interested in DBS, the DBS has over 600 rank no. 1 students to pick for less than 30 vacancies for academic talent.

Sure DBS doesn’t consider each school, a few top primary schools may get 2~3 seats and many schools get none.
If your child is top of the grade and from a high rank school, you might get a chance.
Otherwise even 9x marks doesn’t mean much.
As long as no rejection letter is received, there is still a chance on the waiting list. Good luck.

And also, what kinds of music / sport wl be more considered ?

Hi Tsang123,

For music & sports queue, their average score can be very low (e.g. 7x). All kinds of music skills are considerd according to the need of DBS orchestra. Up to now, I didn't hear anybody got accepted based on pure academic result.

Do you mind tell us the average score of your son? Are you till waiting? Any music talent ?

I know a friend's son who is good at cello (he passed grade 8 with 140 something and got awards in Music Festival every year) and his academic result is quite good, but still hasn't heard anything from the school. It means--the competition is extremely keen.

It's not 100% truth! As I know that my kid's classmates (at least 6 boys) got the offer from DBS base on outstanding academic performance purely.

Yes, they all playing music instrument, but they don't have much awards in such aspects (e.g. grade 8 or above, and awards in Music Festival). They are all within the top 10 boys in primary 6 and not just the class, and they don't need to have any audition.

actually i think the interview played an important part as well.
my son has good academic results, but for sports and music, he just has an ordinary performance, not really outstanding, but he got an offer too.

此處不留人,自有留人處
我知大拔約收10幾個sports 同music或其他方面有卓越表現嘅,其餘成績同操行,操行非常重要,再加上當天表現
唔好失望,成3000人報,收幾十,香港仲有大把好學校

我囝果班有全世界排名第1定嘅圍棋高手,有宜家計緊微積分,還有很多特異奇人異仕,不過也有平平無奇的,所有
academic好之外,好睇重操行

DBSPD cello 學生好多,music要學多種,阿囝同學cello, voilin,piano, flute樣樣掂,good at music,低音大提琴就小d人學

Just called DBS and she said some candidates will be placed in waiting list.

Those in waiting list will receive a letter invitation for a written test in early July.

That means, the candidate has to fight another new battle again. Oh my god!

昨天打電話去，職員主動問我申請編號，已知不在waiting list，她說７月可照扣門，但我相信如果已有一批waiting list ，那reject的小朋友可說是無望，有冇曾經被reject的在扣門時成功被取錄？請分享，謝！

She said the written exam will be held in end of June. It's not the same as 分班試. I just think that it's not fair. Why the 1st round candidates don't need written test, but the ones in waiting list have to? So afraid that my son will 失手.

And I don't know if they will still consider the previous scores (including academic, ECA, interview, etc.) or start it all over.

She kept saying that there are no waiting list but only accept or reject, anyway, she said that the reject letter will mention how to apply for written test.

It's strange. She said clearly that my son is placed in the waiting list and asked me to wait for the written exam invitation letter.

Don't know why the answer is different for different callers!

打去問吓啦，佢話reject咗有興趣都可以再申請叩門，到時可以將今次個申請編號連同新嘅資料一同寄去。不過就要睇吓佢哋比唔比我哋筆試喇。

唔洗"甘"唔開心,有時讀唔讀到那所學校都好講同學校有沒有緣份的!阿囝又唔係"甘"差,只要阿囝是上進的人,我覺得巳經是父母的安慰,不要因此給自己太大的壓力,這樣阿囝也會感受到的!

多謝妳呀mayc, 妳既說話令我覺得好溫暖, 响我身邊沒有人可傾訴, 好多時想同其他同學仔媽媽交流, 佢地通常都會講"妳個仔咁叻, 唔使擔心啦, 只要唔心頭高一定入b1中學" 有時我都會諗係咪我心頭高呢? 但我只係想係我有得選擇底下幫佢安排一間我覺得比較好的學校

我現實d講,你地試下比f.2 d math mock paper(英文版)比囝囝做下,1 hr 8 pages,睇下有幾多分,英文試下借本Epic來睇,因今次exam佔30分,中文正常比翻6年級加d古文,成語就ok,在家做次test,大家就會心裹有數, 呢次second term都考呢d,written test我估會再深d
