聽講啟中衹收啟思Band 1 的學生, Band 2/3 要轉考其他中學, 是不是呢?

If CSS is running MYP and IBDP, Band 2/3 students can't survive in IB. They aim for Band 1 is logical.

can you explain more on that:

1) what is MYP and what is IBDP

2) Why if they run these systems that only band 1 students can survive?

You can get better information from IBO website. I just briefly answer your questions as I am not an expert in IB.

1. IB has three programs:
PYP - for primary school; (age 3-12)
MYP - for secondary or junior high school; (11-16)and
IBDP - for senior high or F6-F7 standard in HK. (16-19)
IBDP examination results are used to apply for university admission internationally.

2. My understanding is IB required much higher English standard and students need to be more all-rounded, motivated and fit in their IB profile. Like DBS & SPCC also screened some students to study IB and not everyone, because some students more suitable to local curriculum and get better grades.

I am not sure about MYP. In IBDP, they focus on literature stuff and not traditional grammar stuff in local curriculum, the language proficency is the key.

You can also utilise the following website http://www.ibo.org/ to know more about IB basics and upcoming events and changes. Also, visit LPCUWC, SPCC and DBS's webiste and you can get some understanding how they run Pre-IB and or IBDP.

I don't think so.
好像沒有新直資校只收band1生. 收80%band1生的也難找.

有朋友的兒子今年在該校中四，聞說很多人追不上IB課程。每年都有不少人退學。

ANChan59的意思可能是說無BAND 1程度會跟不上，所以其他學生不會直升該校中學部。

You got it, even not fit all band 1 students. In DBS, some students also withdraw from Pre-IB after 2 weeks. Too demanding.......

MYP (F1-4) - Chinese is taught in Putonghua, but all other subjects are taught in English, inlcuding Music, Drama & PE....

IBDP (F5-6) - Chinese is still present

It doesn't matter. Your worry applies to most EMI secondary schools. Most students are from CMI primary schools.

I have a friend placing a child graduated from CMI primary school to Yew Chung IB, she is now at HKU with good IB results.

Can I ask you when you compare Yew Chung and CSS program (both IB curriculum), the reasons you put your child at CSS besides the reason that she is from Creative primary school?

If CPS just only run mainly in Chinese as the school fee is really too high. As I know all IB school is in highly in costing to hire qualified trained teachers. But I don't know CPS will also trained up their existing teacher or hired IB qualified teacher yet. Because school fee sudden increased from HKD5,XXX to HKD7,xxx.

This is just my simple thoughts.

As far as I know, CPS has on going training for existing teachers about IB. The school fee was >6K while my daughter was in P6, not just 5K+.

I never consider YC due to the high school fee.
