My friend's daughter failed in the admission, she's already ranked top 3 in the form but still failed. Looks like the competition in SPCC is very keen.

Congratulations to those successfully admitted, any parents who have good news can share?

Any idea about how many will be put in the waiting list?

My daughter is so lucky that she is being admitted by SPCC.  Now we're under serious consideration for undertaking the chance or not.  Can anyone give us advice for the following:-

-  any other expenses besides school fee in a year?
-  the competition among students (i mean in the college) are very keen?
-  do u think it's worth to forgo the government one?

Any other comments about the school are welcome.

我個人覺得如果經濟上許可的話, 我會揀spcc.

My friend's son was admitted as well (ranked around 15 in school but with many extra-curricular activities), presentable & outgoing, he is struggle between SPCC & La Salle (already 2nd in), he is asking for advice, anyboby can share?

真的嗎? so far 問的朋友都叫我5駛言念 gum 多......不過我對SPCC其實認識不多, 今次是無心插柳, so 希望可以係到了解多d.
又其實女女自己都未g, 等佢放學回來問吓佢先, 始於讀果個係佢......

只有中三暑假往澳洲會有較大使費(學校說或有資助)。如需要，目前學費方面可申請減免。其他活動方面無需太多使費。小囡參加過八堂壁球班，只收二百二十元。
學校樂器班收費算是市場價，比想像中的學校價稍高，但此樂器班是自選，學校不強迫參加。
校服使費算高少少（有SPCC校章嘛）；課本使費則跟其他學校差不多，但學校會免費提供中英文科set book。

SPCC的學生都是叻仔叻女（讚埋自己個女添），互相比較係難免。但大半年來唔覺得爭得太利害。反而因同學成績好，其他同學會自動努力。

中一有一門課(Enquiry Learning)，教同學如何去提問，雖然堂數不多（1/3學期），什至效果不高，（中一嘛，不能要求太高）；但覺得學校肯用心去構思課程。要感謝學校。

去年此時，亦如多位家長一樣，心裏十五十六，不知應否把囡送入SPCC，想了很久，考慮了三個層面：
1. 囡有冇能力在SPCC求學？但既然學校都錄取了，相信學校的眼光錯不了。能力不是一個問題。
2. 其次考慮囡在SPCC就讀會否讀得愉快。囡的個性應該可以。後來請教了一位同一小學的師姐，完全正面。最終選了SPCC，大半年了，囡在學校很快活。
3. 學費上，曾考慮是否應把這筆學費留在讀大學時才用。但如經濟上有需要，如上述，學校可提供減免。

閣下如想為小朋友考慮官津中學，要想想該校有否比SPCC優勝？

MY kid was accepted by SPCC and I am so glad that, in compared to DBS, seems to me SPCC focus more on academic instead of sports/music awards.

I am also comparing SPCC with DGS.

I find in the Web site of the schools that the elective subjects under NSS Curriculum of both schools are:

(1)Science Education
SPCC: Chemistry, Physics, Biology

DGS: Chemistry, Physics, Biology,Combined Science (Physics, Chemistry), Combined Science (Chemistry, Biology)

(2) Technology Education
SPCC: Information and Communication Technology
DGS: Information and Communication Technology, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, Technology and Living

From this aspect, it seems that the DGS has more varieties of choices of subjects. Personally I prefer Combined Science to Physics/Chemistry/Biology. Also I like Financial Studies. However, these 2 subject are absent in the list of SPCC.

Have I overlooked anything? Please correct me if I have missed out anything. Thanks.

The Spcc offered a briefing session for parents on the coming Sat, go ask for your answer .

The content and teachers they prepared is important than the no. of choice they said they offer .Ask them why and why not.

I further look into the subjects offered in SPCC this morning. I find that it does not offer any accounting-related nor finance-related subject throughout Form 1 to Form 7. It did surprise me but I think the school must have her reason.

On reading the requirements of some universities, I find that studying combined science (Physics and Chemistry) seems to be most "cost effective" because it can fulfill the prerequisite requirement of both department of Egineering and department of Medicine. That is why I favour this subject in particular.

I understand that quality is more important than quantity. The varieties of subjects should not be a dominant factor for choosing a school. But if both schools are nearly equally good, I have to weigh factor by factor.

Regarding to the comparision of both schools, it is still under consideration and no conclusion can be made up to now. By the way, hope all of you (including me, ha ha...) can make the right choice.

Be honest, everyone I asked for the views of SPCC recently is purely positive, including teachers and old girl. Normally, subjects in girls school (not just DGS, but also MCS, BPS, HY etc.) are comparatively designed to suit the girls most. So, may be this is one of the reason SPCC do not have combined science and commercial subjects which I also aimed at in my previous choices. Would you raise this question in the coming briefing session and let us know the answer then.

現在才看到這話題.小女現就讀spcc s2,大多中學在開334課程前都應發問卷給同學,才決定開甚麼班. 而spcc的組合已算很多.鼓勵你們於這星期六的家長會提問,回來告訴我們校方的答案.....

因我都好想知.

囡囡經差不多兩年的spcc 超愉快的校園生活,問佢的意見就只有

今年下學期開始,囡囡幾個同學自發地組成溫習小組,每星期都抽3小時左右一起溫習,交換筆記參考

如能保持下去,真是不錯呀!!!

但小朋友要有心理準備,因能考入這所中學的小學生,大多在小學是都名列前茅,要接受成績可能不如以往.

上課時經常要同學用英語發言回答問題，那些較內向不常舉手答問題的同學，老師反而經常叫他們回答，一來訓練Oral,一方面訓練膽量！

...一放學就同d同學打online game..
佢d同學已經成日比人罰, 話佢唔好同佢地一齊又唔肯, 但重有年幾同班

, 成日同佢解釋果d同學好大可能讀完S3就走去外國, 所以都唔會點讀書, 又唔聽唔理..... 咁多年可以講冇比老師罰過, 今個星期卒之比人罰

, 又正係反叛期.
而家只有好無奈咁等佢反叛期完.....

囡囡溫習小組亦有男同學參與的.但可能大多男仔是比較遲開竅,但online game真是要戒之,虛擬世界很難拔足離開.
讀完S3就走去外國>>聽小女講今年已開始有同學會赴外國讀書了.

I believed you all good parents. Only good parents concern about the school life of their children, not only PUSH them to band 1 school and leave them to school.

I need a advice from you all (successful parents).Please.

My boy is P5 student at band 1 school in Tuen Mun.

He is only rank 15/120 this year.

He had won silver award of Olympics Math 2010 and he also plays violin for only 1 year ( lever 3).

Do you think he can gain a CHANCE of interview by SPPC next year ?:cry:

What can he improve to achieve the SPCC require ?

奧數銀獎有機會，我識有幾個奧數有獎都入左，級名次前十名機會好些，可以校長推蔫，第一輪獎助學面試不成的話，自動進入第二輪，機會大D！
