That means the girl was interviewed by DGS last year or before, but not this year, is it right?

As far as I know, there is no"entry English exam at DGS" except after the acceptance, and then there will be a class allocation exam. Would you mind to explain more?

She was taking a Cambridge English course at the time. The entry English exam at DGS was similar to what we were learning/doing. So she had do ...

For this year, the parents have to wait at the school hall for 1 hour. So, I think that the parents are not required to answer the questions during the internview. Is it right ?

I am very worry from now but my daughter is very happy all the time. If the interview is not successful, I am afraid that it will break her heart.

Secondly, I want to know if the applicant should wear the school uniform of her primary school. Please advise.

What do you mean AQ ? Please explain how to train the daughter. She has a talent for study and popular in her primary school.

For the interview, I can train my daughter for oral English and my wife can train her the Mandarine. Do you think it's necessary to take further interview class by other tutor center ? Thanks.

Hi Bluestones,

My daugther is a happy girl all the time. And she is a beautiful girl (everybody said that). I think she has confidence. Her AQ is quite good because we always support her in any circumstances. But sometimes, her EQ is not good enough. She sometimes show us a bad temper. She can learn new things and knowledge very fast.

She thinks that she would be proud of to be a DGS student as it will be the 1st student admitted to DGS in her primary school.

My daugther also commented that English, Maths and group discussions were very easy, but comparatively Chinese was a bit difficult to her as her Chinese is not very good. She said the test was overall quite easy.

My daughter now is studying at DGS, Secondary one. She was interviewed by the headmistress last year and the content of interview was mainly about her studying life, her primary school and some tricky questions. At the briefing session for parents,the headmistress said she would ask the applicants different questions. Therefore the content of interviews will not be the same.
Having a good understanding of the applied school and your daughter's primary school and fluent in spoken English with good manner are the key points. Last year, they did screen out some 2nd interviewees. That means they are not admitted. However, a few applicants gave up the place because they had another offer. My daughter had 2 offers last year. THe 2 offers were given by SPCC and DGS. At last, she chose DGS.

Why did your daughter choose DGS instead of SPCC?

Both schools have very good learning atmosphere and academic results, long-term curriculum developments. It was rather hard to choose. We live in Kln. and so travelling time is one of our reasons. Single gender school is another reason. Last year, we got to know some applicants of DGS who gave up the place because they do not like girls' school. They prefer co-ed.

1. Only a few days, including the weekend, She had the interview on that Thursday or Friday, then we received the offer letter the next Monday.
2. I think the best way to know more about the schools is to visit the school websites and read all the information.
3. It is not easy for a 12-year-old girl to adapt a new schhol, new classmates and new teachers. Now,more than 6 months, she feels happy to study there because she can fit in the school academic standard and make progress.

How did my daughter make her decision last year? My husband and I listed all the strengths of both schools on a list, especially public examination  results, for DGS, the average score of the announced reports, is a little bit, I can't remember the data, higher than the other school we mentioned.
Girls learn to be tough in a single gender school. However, some parents and girls don't like that environment.  I think you and your daughter need to consider this point.
I do believe teachers at both school are specialized in teaching bright students.
No matter which school you choose, secondary one will be a challenge for a child who goes to a new school.
I didn't reply your question at once because I think it is a very serious question and so I don't want to affect  you but I just want to be honest to tell you what we, my daughter, my husband and I  thought.

Thanks btk_whw for your great sharing. You said let your daughter made the decision. Yes, it's a wonderful opportunity. We did the same thing as you did, listed the advantages and shorts of each school by all of us. Then explained and discussed. Last, we let her balance all the points to find the school she want. We still have one more day. We are ready to accept the one she chooses. Cause we believe she knows which one is more suitable for her, what she likes more, what she can overcome.

As you said, it is not easy for a 12-year-old girl to adapt a new schhol, new classmates and new teachers. Know more, choose one and get easier to face.

知道星期六有家長收到DGS取錄信，今日特別留意信箱，都係冇。於是打電話比學校查詢一下，學校話這兩天會陸續寄出信件。真係慘，上次見校長封信寫面試结果會係3至4月出，兩個月咁長，收唔收早D知道結果等人有其他安排嘛。宜家D資助學校又陸續面試，未知DGS面試結果都要去面試啦！真係攪到精神緊張！！！

其实佢一向嘅做法都是覺得邊個學生合適，佢就發信。試過有學生面試時，告訴校長計划到外國升學，且交了留位費，學校照發信。

耐心等候，有一群學生很搶手，去邊間都收。這批學生作出决定後，就有位剩。
