Notes for Parents on the Application

2022/2023 Application for Secondary 1 Discretionary Places (S1DP)

Registration for S1 Admission Briefing Session begins at 9:00 a.m. on 1 November 2021.

Application procedure :Collection of Application Form

i) Download from school website (www.ywgs.edu.hk) and print on A4-sized white paper, or
ii) Parents can contact school if they have difficulty in downloading the application form

Period :

11 December 2021 - 17 January 2022

Submission of Application Form

i) Submit in person (either by the applicant's parent or an entrusted person)
ii) Parents can also submit application via post. Parents need to make sure that all required documents are included. A return envelope should be included, school will post the Parent's Copy of the application form back to the parents for retention. (the postmark date should not be later than the prescribed deadline)

Period :

3 - 17 January 2022
(except Sundays and Public Holidays)

Office Hours :

Monday to Friday : 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday : 9:00 am - 12:00 noon

Place :School Office, Robinson Road Campus (must use Robinson Road entrance)Documents required :

i) Application Form for S1DP issued by the Education Bureau
ii) YWGS's S1DP Application Form
iii) Applicant's school reports for Primary 5 (whole year) and Primary 6 (first term) – photocopy
iv) ID Card of the student – photocopy
Remarks : There is no need to provide any letters of recommendation or certificates of awards

All applicants will be invited for an interview, the date of which is 5 March 2022 (Saturday). Details will be announced in due course.

Parents of successful S1 DP applicants will receive notification from school by letter and phone on 31 March 2022.

The formal admission result will be announced on 12 July 2022 concurrently with the release of the
Central Allocation results. In the event that there are still unfilled places, the School will contact the
applicants on our waiting list. Applicants who fail to attend the interview will not be included in the
waiting list.

The School is permitted to allocate 51 discretionary places (DP) based on the Education Bureau's set proportion for permitted DPs. Prospective students may also apply for a place in our School in the Central Allocation stage of the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System 2022 – either through the unrestricted school choices (11 places available) or the restricted school choices (98 places available). Details can be referred to the Information Leaflet on the SSPA System 2020/2022 Cycle issued by the Education Bureau.

The School's admission criteria for DP :

(i)Academic results50%(ii)Interview performance30%(iii)Performance in extra-curricular activities10%(iv)Conduct10%

From past experience, the School receives a lot of enquiries about DP application every year. We therefore will hold School Information Session on S1 Admission on 11 December 2021 (Saturday) to brief prospective students and their parents about the school mission, our educational beliefs and the admission procedures.

Below are the details of the briefing session :

報名費：

現金港幣$50元正

遞交申請時所需文件：

已填妥的入學申請表(下載申請表)

學生香港身份證副本。

學生小學五年級上、下學期成績表及小學六年級上學期成績表副本。(如遞交申請表時，學生未有小六上學期成績表副本，請家長於第一次面試日或以前透過郵遞、傳真(傳真號碼：2701 3866) 或親臨本校補交相關資料。補交時，請於相關資料右上方寫上學生的申請編號及姓名。)

三個已貼妥郵票($3)之回郵信封(23cm x 10cm)，信封面須註明申請人的姓名及地址。

注意事項：

家長必須親臨本校辦理報名手續，其他以郵遞、傳真或電郵等形式提交之申請，恕不受理。

報名時，家長必須出示學生身份證明文件(學生手冊/學生證/身份證/護照) 的正本。如未能提交所需文件或出示學生身份證明文件者，申請將不獲受理。

Please bring along the originals of the applicant's identity documents (e.g. birth certificate, identity card or passport) for verification when submitting the application

In view of the COVID-19 epidemic, parents could thoroughly consider the needs and associated risks of unsuccessful delivery, and arrange to submit the above  documents by post (the postmark date should not be later than the prescribed deadline).
