Whether CIE is tougher than Edexcel may be a matter of personal perception.
What everyone will get the same answer is that e.g. English Language, English Literature, Economics, Geography, History, PRS, etc. in Shatin College follow the Edexcel curriculum, while e.g. Geography and History in Kellett follow CIE.
I apply for my daughter since 3mths. We recently check she is on 80+ waiting list. I do not know what that means. I was aiming for 2017 reception and I have not asked for any submission of reports or anything yet. If they ask for reference letter, who needs to write the reference letter? I really want my child to get into this school.

There are 5 classes of reception(22 children/class), 2 in Kowloon bay and 3 in pokfulam. You're #80+ on the waiting list, it means your chance is high. Probably you may receive email again in the coming November/December for the school report and reference letter. For the reference, you may ask the existing class teacher to write for you.
How many reference letters do they usually required? Beside teachers who else can/should write it? Will there be any interview? My daughter is naturally quiet and shy and needs a lot of time to warm up which is quite a disadvantage for school interview becos she have great feedback from teachers and peers when they know her.
