英 基 收 生 分 三 類 面 試

( 星 島 日 報 報 道 ) 屬 下 有 十 六 所 中 小 學 的 英 基 學 校 協 會 昨 日 公 布 新 收 生 安 排 ， 影 響 今 年 九 月 報 讀 英 基 學 校 和 明 年 報 讀 英 基 小 一 的 學 生 。

　 　 英 基 將 把 報 讀 的 學 生 分 為 三 類 ﹕ 一 是 以 英 語 為 第 一 語 言 和 因 不 諳 廣 東 話 而 不 能 入 讀 本 地 學 校 的 學 生 ， 二 為 以 非 英 語 為 第 一 語 言 ， 但 因 不 諳 廣 東 話 而 不 能 入 讀 本 地 學 生 的 學 生 ， 三 是 有 資 格 入 讀 本 地 學 校 的 學 生 。 學 校 在 安 排 學 生 面 試 時 ， 將 以 第 一 類 學 生 優 先 ， 然 後 為 第 二 類 ， 第 三 類 則 最 後 。 英 基 發 言 人 補 充 ， 協 會 學 校 一 向 有 把 學 生 分 類 的 做 法 ， 現 時 向 家 長 公 開 是 希 望 增 加 透 明 度 。

Remember that parents have to state on the application form the language the kids and the parents used to speak at home and at school, and also need to state the name of kindergarten, place of birth, nationality etc.  So I think that they are able to categorize them.

【明報專訊】截至5月，有2300人正輪候入讀英基轄下小學。面對學額供不應求的問題，英基公布，06/07年入學程序將申請者排列先後次序，一般以英文為外語、可入讀本地小學的港人子女，將排於最後考慮的第三級。發言人指，英基條例規定學校必須優先取錄英語為母語學生，申請排列先後等級如下﹕



第一級﹕英語為母語，未能入讀本地學校

第二級﹕英語非母語，但未能入讀本地學校

第三級﹕英語為外語，但能夠入讀本地學校

校友子女兄弟姊妹就讀優先

若申請人為英基轄下幼稚園學生、英基校友子女，或兄弟姊妹於英基就讀，均可獲優先考慮。

英基亦改變過往學校分開收生做法，改為中央統籌，分配申請人到學位充足的學校。發言人說，英基轄下各校申請人數不同，此舉可改善申請分佈不均情

In the past, application forms will be sent to individuals school in whose zone they live.  But in future, applications should be sent to central admission centre.  Applications will be redirected to individual ESF schools based on the geographic distribution of the applicants. Both home address and ease of transportation will determine the school that the applicant is allotted.

Me too. My son also belongs to category 3 and he will go to ESF kinder (Tsing Yi) for K1 in Jan 06. I wonder if he has a great chance of getting a place in one of the ESF primary schools.

There is of course no such admission priorities for Sept 05 as Phoenix only has new school by Sept 06 in Ma On Shan which will offer 900 spaces for primary and 1200 spaces for secondary students.  So the admission rules change (if any) will start to apply only for kids joining in Sept 06.
