標題: ISF弘立插班好难 [打印本頁]

今年春天听说ISF有插班名额，就申请了ISF弘立四年级插班（2024年秋入学），参加了孩子的笔试+面试，以及家长面试，最后结果是没offer……在面试家长的时候，我还咨询了招办老师，孩子前面两轮考试如何，他说都是孩子考过了，才会有家长面试的。然后感觉自己家长面试的时候没有回答什么有问题的答案，也不知道为什么没拿到offer，也许是因为老师觉得我们是大陆过去的，繁体字准备不足吧（因为我在面试时对如何适应繁体字表示了一些忧虑）……或者是因为我回答了也申请了几个其他的香港的学校（都是和ISF类型很不一样的学校），让他们觉得我们跟ISF的理念并没有严丝合缝（而是只是抱着想申到一个香港的学校的念头）吧……

ISF初小一向不容易插班，很多都是Y7才插班入ISF，我也認識幾個大陸家庭都是在Y7入讀ISF

有很多大陸家庭報讀ISF所以大陸背景和繁體字應不是選取因素，你小孩亦通過了兩輪面試證明了有能力入讀，只是插班位小競爭大而已，如果侯補失敗就準備好將來再試考

都四年級了不如直接考gsis/cis或者hkis，何必糾結於isf。反正到五六年級絕大多數都是選擇考出去的。

Do you mean ISF is a stepping school for other IS?

不能這樣說。
Isf剛剛開始有高中畢業生，所以大多數人還是中學選擇傳統的歷史更長的以上三所is，畢竟有更多tracking records。

另一方面小學選isf是因為雙語學校重中文，中學出去為了更國際化的環境

對了，聽說買debenture用處很大，如果不買，真的難

GSIS我们去年考了，没考上～我们今年也申请了HKIS，但因为申请太晚了，过了critical deadline，只能明年看了～我们本来也在美国体制的学校，能去HKIS就最理想了～申请ISF是因为他们的中文比较重视（但我竟然忽略了中文是繁体字的事实），而且好像也会争取因材施教（我看学校官网介绍感觉是这样的）～

不是有面試就一定有offer, 沒有gurantee 的你揀人時, 人家也在揀你

那就只能找个过渡学校先读着慢慢考，考上说不定排队也有几年

It is always tricky for years without mass intake. It depends on the number of leavers vs. number of applicants for that particular years

Maybe easier when it's year 5 to 6 (elementary to middle school), or middle school to high school, when there are more people leaving

楼主眼光很高，把esf和cdnis 当保底校。听说后者今年光waitlist长达600多人

Agree… both ESF and CDNIS are highly sought after, and have really long waitlists. Can consider newer schools like DSC, Nord Anglia, Stamford, Malvern, etc. Malvern just released really good IB results, so admission may become more competitive though.

这样啊…… 我听我们学校的老师说，CNDIS非常好。ESF也感觉挺好的。当然不敢说把这两家当保底，只是说申请一下……因为之前申请都没中。
我以为ESF在港岛的学校会稍微容易申请一些（感觉亚裔更喜欢去在九龙和新界的ESF）

CDNIS is more difficult, ESF is simple especially in the junior years. West Island is not a bad ESF but morning interview, afternoon offer is not uncommon. Personal experience.

Every year ISF intake (except lower primary and foundation) is not many even school has vacancy. We saw people getting in since G5, just not exceed 10 people every year. Actually people are leaving school at upper primary or middle school. So no hurry to get in.
My suggestion is to apply different schools, and the best fit school will eventually pick your child/children. Good luck!

In ISF, are all students requested to choose Chinese and English A in their IB?
Thus, all of them are bilingual graduates?

Thanks! Morning interview, afternoon offer is quite strange... you mean for 插班?
We just received an offer from West Island School (year 7). I got the impression from their admission that this is the relatively easier one to apply among all ESF secondary schools.

Do you know about the school's teaching quality and curriculum? Is it suitable for kids who are not so good at reading and writing? I heard that IB has really a lot of reading and writing, and emphasizes the humanities more (than sciences).
