Both traditional and simplified characters are used widely within the Chinese-speaking world. The ability to fully access the rich diversity of Chinese culture relies upon gaining an understanding of both character forms. Learning both forms is an invaluable learning experience for students in gaining an appreciation of another tradition and in teaching critical thinking skills. Through comparison of the two forms insight is gained into how language works.
At Renaissance College, students are expected to learn both traditional and simplified character forms: proficiency in one form and familiarity with the other. Students with a background in one of the two forms will continue to be supported in learning that form.
Given the local context, within the native speaker stream most students will learn traditional characters. Once a firm foundation in the traditional form has been established, students will gain a level of competency in the simplified form.

As a RCHK parent, I agree with this policy which meets my expectation.
Hi there,
I overheard a parent enrolled her daughter for a traditional vs simplify chinese course in the
tutorial centre that my son is going now while I was
waiting for my son.
I do agreed that it is important to learn both.
I am considering to reschdule my son's time table
to see if I could let him join as well because we are
singaporeans,we only know simplify chinese,my husband said it is better to understand both !
It is definitely good for our children !
