小兒有幸收到esf offer，今年8月果陣入讀K1
2年後佢升year 1，跟school zone 既話，將要報Beacon hill school

假如我到時只係填BHS，我會唔會有機會被派到其他out of zone school呢?

我見esf website FAQ有提過呢個問題:
7. Can an applicant be considered at an alternative out of zone ESF school if there are no places for the zoned school?”

If there is availability, we will look at this option to direct applicants who have indicated they are willing to go out of zone. Parent are responsible for transportation to school as there is no PTA bus serving out of zone areas.

但睇完我都唔係好肯定，想請教各位意見，謝謝

I don't think anyone knows the new rules yet since the first batch of through train is yet to enter Year 1. May have to wait and see how they handle the first batch.
But I'm guessing with the super popular primaries like SJS and KJS then there may be a chance some applicants will be asked if they are willing to go out of zone?

If everyone just puts their first choice only, there's no way everyone will get their first choice particularly for the popular schools.

After all, ESF through train said they'd guarantee Year 1 but they never said whether it is in your zone or not.

Do we have a higher chance to get first choice primary school offer if we got K1 offer with debenture?

Yes I would assume so because your debenture converts into INR in Year 1. And if one buys an INR you are not restricted by catchment zones, so they should be able to choose any primary as their first choice.

I would like BHS+Sha Tin College
Is it possible?

BHS相對易有位，放first choice多數得。

I had the same question as a debenture holder and I already clarified with the school.You can choose your Primary as u will be treated as an INR holder, however you will need to stick with your school zone when u transfer to the secondary.

Depending on where you live, I think by the time your child is in secondary, the catchment might change for secondary because Island School will have moved back to Borrett Road.

So I guess I need to wait and see how the first batch of student being allocated.
My school zone would be BHS and Shatin college.

I assume BHS would be less competitive, as compared with SJS or KJS.

But Shatin college is so much popular, and I need to be prepared that my son might be encouraged to take an out of zone school, since I am not having debenture nor any other priority

Anyway, your comment is very helpful for me to have some anticipation for how things might go during primary and secondary placement

My child is in the first batch of through train so I'll definitely be happy to share here when the allocation results come out. Let's wait and see :)

But also are you sure STC is your catchment? I always thought BHS students move onto KGV. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I'm sure you're right. I just assumed BHS feeds into KGV but I guess it still depends on your address according to catchment.
