I have just received an email invitation for Y1 interview. From what I understand there is interview for guaranteed and non guaranteed placement. The subject of the email is "QBS: 2021-2022 Year 1 Interview offer for school place". Does it mean my child will be offered a school place in case she passes the interview? Thanks.

For those who received the interview offer, it does’nt means that you will get an offer. FYI, only 1/3 interview will get an offer. This year 1, around 2000 applicants compete for less than 200 seats

ESF Primary 會按random number抽一D無priority的小朋友面試，所以有interview機會的話，已經好好。

我當年如果係reserved list係email有indication，我都唔太清楚係點寫
我到interview當日問校長先知我係in guaranteed list
所以你都應該好大機會係

I just checked my email inbox and the subject line of the past email from a ESF primary school inviting my child for an interview was “Interview Offer for school place if successful- XXXXX XXXX”. We were attending the interview for a guaranteed place. Your case is likely the same.
Why don’t you call the Admissions officer of the school direct and they should be happy to let you know what will be going on.

I heard in-person that parents were acknowledged kid interview for guaranteed but final fall into waiting due to some higher priority chip in; good luck

You may consult the admissions office or ESF family with children studying in the school concerned. Pls note so far we do not notice any official figures in respect of admissions exercise of this year being released in the public domain.

We used to be a waiting list candidate so I kept checking regularly our waiting list position.(Now my elder son is Yr 4 in QBS)And this time, little daughter got interview because of sibiling priority.So I am quite sure my information should be correct. (unless they change this year)
1 interview candidates
2 reserved waiting list with interview
3 loooong waiting list queue (no interview)
1 + 2 should be around 150 while QBS has 120 seats for Yr1.Even reserved waitlist kids can very likely get an offer by Aug/Sep as some kids failed and some give up offer.
3is very long... At that time, I heard there were 600 for QBS, while we were at around 100.And we end up got an interview right beforr Yr2 summer...
QBS is a great school...Hope this information is useful to you... and good luck!

so based on your information those who are invited for first round interview have a really high chance of getting a school place

Mine is like hkese
Subject QBS: 2021-2022 Year 1 Interview offer for school place.
I do not know，perhaps it means the different between type 1 and type 2 as I wrote.
But yes, type 1 and type 2 will.have very high chance getting an offer as long as English is OK.... and I am sure there will be 500-600 waiting list behind us.... so we are lucky enough.

200 seats? QBS has 4 year 1 class and each has 30 kids. 120 seats in total.

You can actually call QBS to check your waitlist position.

My email did mention I have to pay within a time frame once I know interview result is a pass. Some people said in another post that this means it's for a guaranteed spot. Anyway interview has been postponed thanks to the corona virus dancing group.

Oh Interview postponed...? Our interview were on 17 Nov before the situation got worse lately.... but anyway I believe the whole process will be delayed anyway..... :(

We also got that email, but the interview will be held in Jan 2020. May I know which month was your child born?

Our interview was arranged kind of early because we have subiling priority. I met with the Principal. It take around 10-15min talking about the kid. It is quite casual.

“Interviews are being conducted throughout November 2020 to January 2021, and we will inform you of the interview result by letter/email in the third week of January. If your child is successful, the letter you receive will request a deposit* payment and a non-refundable capital levy payment, both of which will be required by Friday 29th January 2021 to secure the place.”
It seems interview result will be released in the third week of January 2021. Are you referring to those who bought the nomination rights (HK$500,000)?

We are happy to received an offer from QBS (Sibiling Priority). I am not sure if it is normal to release an offer to some candidates so early, or it is becauae of the Covid that pause the interview process in the middle..... ??
