It wasn't in your Spam? Maybe different kindergartens send them out on different dates? I did receive it and we applied for TY.

Haha so true! So I asked this in another discussion:
I noticed in the email they called it an "interview", I wonder is this because it is no longer a play visit and they changed the format? Or did they always call it an interview in the past?

Thank you! I just hope we pass the interview as my child is very slow to warm up so may not talk during the interview. You never know maybe you will end up getting a spot, good luck!

Actually just the email title mentioned “Notification of K1 waitlist for interview”. The content of the email is like we are unable to offer an interview at the moment, Your application will remain active on our ESF Kindergarten waitlist, and if an opportunity for interview arises, the Kindergarten will be in contact with you.

Is your play visit on Feb 12? We also have sibling priority and our play visit is on Jan 6. I thought Hillside has only one day (Jan 6) for play visit as per the school calendar.

This invitation is no guarantee of a K1 place, and is an offer for a play visit only.

Depending on the outcome of the play visit and the ESF admissions criteria, your child will either be offered a place in K1 or be put on the Kindergarten waitlist.

Does anyone know what happens or if they reject children who don't talk at all? I have a December child who will not even be 2 yet at the play visit. He can talk a lot at home but I predict he won't talk at the play visit. Thanks in advance.

I heard that esf is a non-selective school. At the end it is all based on random number and priority. Not sure if I got it right

唔講，懂得聽基本英文，以往play vist係在班房內，幾組小朋友加家長，任佢地在班房內取每個角落的玩具or圖書,老師會走埋去，例如㕑房玩具，老師會話I am hungry, 小朋友可能會拎起個玩具食物俾老師，咁老師就知佢識聽

It is 2 Dec. I also saw the school calendar thinking that the play visit would be on 6/1 only. But then I received the email saying that it’s on 2 Dec.
Anyway, I do recall that there were interviews in Nov/Dec last year, which was not the same as mentioned on the web/calender

本來我忍唔住打左個reply 解釋如果得100個位，你個random number 去到500，就in嚟都無謂，最後都係廢事出聲。

Debenture comes after siblings and full time staff in terms of priority. Though not sure if that is how the play visits are scheduled.

I'd describe it as an individual interview but in a group setting. You'll be in the same room with other parents/children, but you are assessed individually since the children don't really interact with each other...
Our child spoke a few cantonese words during the interview, but she also was able to follow instructions and respond in simple English. So I don't think speaking some Cantonese is an issue as long as your child can demonstrate his/her English ability.

主要睇小朋友玩玩具、與家長互動。
班房內有五個小朋友及其家長，老師有走過來問家長點解報讀、邊個照顧，咩語言溝通為主，整個過程45分鐘。
（上星期wks play visit經驗）

最緊要比老師睇到小朋友係識聽英文，識溝通，因為我小朋友in K1嗰時，都唔係好肯講嘢，但係我同佢屋企玩開砌圖，泥膠，去到佢又係玩砌圖同泥膠，我同小朋友用英文對答，比老師見到小朋友用英文溝通冇問題, 同埋識得玩玩具，就基本上pass

Yes the website indicates that if you decline an offer the deposit of $50k is refunded to you.

what about after paying the 500k plus one month school fee deposit ?
i know the one month school fee cannot be refunded but what about the debenture ?

Sorry, can't answer that and since this is the first year there may not be any examples yet. I think the best way is to call admissions. They would be happy to answer your questions I'm sure.

Actually the assessment teacher wouldn’t know who had paid for the debenture, so actually there is no advantage apart from getting a chance for interview. But for some who didn’t buy it, they may not even get a chance for interview.
