有幾樣野想關於esf請教大家。
1)小朋友現讀本地幼稚園，今年申請esf P1。基於esf有幼稚園直上，係咪冇乜位淨，而且小朋友現時始終中文比英文好，考到機會係咪好細。
2) 有細嘅跟尾，明年可考esf k1, 如果細嘅考得上，大嘅係咪可以跟入？

1. 是, 如報港島的esf機會可能高d, 如kjs, sjs可能面試機會都冇, 要睇random number, 除非買NR先有interview 的guarantee
2. for older siblings to get priority - 幼稚園冇, 要小學and up先有

咁QBS難入嗎，小朋友現讀本地幼稚園，英文始終唔係母語， 咁樣係咪可能見面機會都冇。
其實有interview係咪得於好大機會入

其實有interview係 ...
Interview 機會只睇random number, 唔關英文程度事，QBS上年有人no priority 都有得in. 要pass interview 就要有一定英語程度，最少要能以英語句子表達自己，亦要有些少詞匯，如懂得形容「大」可以用huge, giant, 唔係只識得big. 口音不用native.

need good random number (for chance of interview) and good English - start practicing now
If can't demonstrate good English will still fail

其實今年考p1，原校幼稚園生應該都仲未享有一條龍嘅待遇。唔知有幾多位俾外面的學生？

主要睇你好唔好彩個random number靚唔靚
我小朋友之前都係讀local之後轉過去
英文只要能夠達到佢嘅minimum requirement 就得喇

冇分別，Esf kinder 現時都只是做一個assessment, 以班細路的英文程度，一定比local school 好。他們也高priority 過outsiders . 所以係唔係叫一條龍，並不重要。

My daughter is in ESF K2 this year and from what I heard at the admission talk at the kindie:
- there is not really an assessment for students. Teachers will only flag out students that they think may have issues and put a note to the primary school for consideration. Assume 99% will get a seat for Y1
- forgot the exact number but RC will have <10 spaces for non-priority students this year. everything else will be taken up by esf kindie students and alumni
- SJS will not have a waiting list this year (even for people with priority). either you get in or not. so there is no chance for non-priority students.

we are aiming for QBS, any idea whether the admission is competitive for this school?
as you mentioned, 99% kinder student will get in primary, any idea that means how many percent of primary school place will be taken?
I heard that English proficiency is a key element for interview. I saw the application form asks whether the student English is "fluent" or "developing". my child comes from local school, I ma liking to check the developing box only, would I be screened out at a result.

Last year, from my understanding, children with priority has taken around 60% of the total number of students.
My kid is not native but has passed the assessment

60% is really less than I expected. quite encouraging. is that overall esf or just QBS.
good to hear your son got in. may I know if you were on any kind of priority list ?
I heard for kindergarten, getting Ain interview chance almost mean you get a place. what about the case for p1?

QBS and it’s what I heard for last year. I assume percentage or number can varies each year. And I’m unsure about other ESF schools.
We have no priority at all.
For interview, again, all depends on the kid’s English assessment result, whether they think the kid can learn and communicate without any problem at school.
And from my understanding, they will also allocate, depending on ur allocation number, whether u r interviewing for a guarantee seat or for the waiting list.

do we know what number do we get? can we tell whether it is good by looking at the number? or we it know the number is good because we have an interview chance?

They will generate a number to you once you submit the central application. I cannot tell if that is good or not.

as the interview chance is based on random number while the interview looks at the child English ability, how do the application questions such as statement of intent come into play? do we need to answer those question very carefully?

Nothing to do with the application questions, they will not impact the random number.
As ur child apply p1, it is very easy to know ur child’s eng ability by play visit ( interview) .

esf asks for English translation of the school report (in Chinese) by lawyer or the school. translation cost is quite expensive. any experience to share?

個人經驗分享，QBS應該係港島區最難入… 小兒今年QBS Y3，冇Priority，幸運排waiting list今年8月剛剛插班成功。
當年waitlist position大概100。（原來算唔差）因為有朋友家長問過，條Queue有600人…
引用當時ESF central application嘅回復：
“For your information, across ESF primary schools we have received over 2,250 applications for the 1,020 places available.”
其實成個ESF Y1，就大概有1200人waiting，QBS佔了一半…
過左冇耐，ESF來信問有冇興趣轉queue去 Bradbury School Peak School或Glenealy School。估計個別學校條Queue好短甚至於未收滿
ESF要跟catchment zone，上述3校本身人口就唔算好多。

1) 我仲以為成個esf最多人係排kjs。 原來qbs先至係， 除咗因為catchment zone， 其實qbs係esf小學當中 算唔算好嘅一間小學呢。 我成日喺度諗, 好多人以成個esf作討論，但係樹大都有枯枝，會唔會有啲esf小學冇咁好，大家揀嘅時候要注意？
2) 你提到你小朋友waitlist後成功, 首先恭喜曬。 但係想了解下， 咁意思即係話當年考Y1, 係咪random number抽唔到 interview， 所以到y3嘅時候先至有得考？ 定係Y1嗰陣已經interview咗, 但係未有位畀你, 排到y3先至有?
3) 你提到你嘅waiting position係100號咁兩三年間多咗成一百個位出嚟，咁qbs嘅流失率都頗高喎。
4) 喺呢兩三年嘅waitlist, 你係咪要年年refresh過申請表, 當中有冇再次interview呢?
5) 其實去到y3先至入， 個interview會唔會難咗好多呢，佢Y1interview只係 group play形式，Y3 會唔會有唔同？

我地其實都係ESF新丁，或者其他家長會比較了解D。
ESF各分校由於地點、學生組成會有不同… 教學嘅側重點也會有D唔一樣。
膚淺D講，我其實亦睇過ESF secondary 各分校公開試成績，其實總體平均分都差唔係好遠。
Ed Kingdom看來我見esf分校各有Fans…哈

想請問下其實知唔知如果我作為一個外校生例如去考qbs。 喺排名interview嘅先後次序上。 相比於其他out of zone esf幼稚園生排qbs排到第四志願嘅，究竟邊個喺個排序上有優先。
另外有冇家長試過報考 catchment zone以外嘅學校？有冇人試過安排保母車接送？
我見到網頁上有講話Bradbury而家有位，點解呢間咁少人讀？
