突然需要搬回香港，請問大家現在那家比較好的國際學校會收Grade 8學生？需要2018-19開始。迷惘中，感謝大家的意見

望下esf website有的中學還有位，另外有d冇甘熱門既IS都重有收Y8

好的學校,本身, 點都咁易有位

我舉例, 漢基筆試完+面試完

漢基話, 如果有人走, 才有位騰出

漢基收左,. 但無人走, 就無位

而家都未有消息

朋友apply ESF Island school year 8. 大概五月報，已經收了。成績好好的

因為Island School 重建，舊年十二月開始搬去大圍及沙田兩間由屋邨學校改建嘅校舍，好多讀開嘅學生走咗。

識人喺裡面讀，話依家收咗唔少英文不太好的本地學校學生，英文入學試唔過關個新校長都話let them try 收咗。啲家長唔識英文，要求PTA newsletter 寫埋中文。教開啲老師好多轉走咗，讀緊好多學生本身住港島因為路程太遠想走，但搵唔到其他港島區其他國際學校轉。

我朋友個仔在IS,他細仔考IS都晤收，是在全港最多人報的直資英小讀。

早幾年轉左2個去 Glenealy, 除左一d其他問題, 亦因Island School要搬去大圍, 直升上去路程太遠, 所以再無留戀, 退學.

當時識左幾個小學媽媽, 孩子一直讀開Glenealy(家姐/阿哥都係讀到畢業), 亦因為呢個原因, 都唔打算讀ESF中學, 因會被派去大圍.

見到好多IS 學生，都搬屋轉地址轉咗去港島區其餘兩間ESF中學，所以果兩間基本上呢幾年是全院滿座。

有朋友女兒，因為IS搬過沙田，提早返加拿大讀boarding school。如果唔係因為學校搬咗，都會好似阿哥咁讀埋Y13 正返加拿大讀大學。

你所說的是100%正確嗎? ESF 怎麼會收英文不達標準的學生？ESF 怎麼會翻譯newsletter為中文給家長看？而且今年Island School IB result 是rank no 2 amongst all ESF schools. IB result平均分有進步. 怎麼老師和學生qualities 因為般到沙田下降？收生是根據居住地址的，住港島區的學生去沙田返學，相返，有學生住沙田去港島區返學。交通安排有校巴接送到就得了，沒有什麼大問題

For Island school it’s true that they accepts students with English level below the usual standard in order to fill the spots. They provided classes like ESL type to help those students.

又咁講，island school 有很多外來插班是我在不同渠道也聽到的。而咁橋island school 今年成績反而有所上升，是否因為收得多插班生所致？from local school or from other international school 插班生。

I think for those take the IB exams, it’s better for them to stay. By for those junior graders, it’s perfectly normal for them to change to other ESF schools (or even other IS). Don’t forget the existing campus are from previous abandoned government schools.

Come on, 呢班 Island School Year 13 依家IB 放榜，舊年2017年12月正搬去沙田，佢地番咗兩三個月到都放study leave.
當然梗係舊生，唔係最近兩年正入嘅插班生。
IS插班生成績，要起碼兩年後正睇到。

朋友係IS PTA committee member, 話有家長要求PTA 出中文newsletter, 佢班committee 唔贊成ban 咗正無出。

搬校舍很久之前已經inform 家長，我有朋友係住大埔，早幾年插island school, 最少年半長途由大埔去港島返island school. 所以這一年IB cohort 有幾成係grade 7 已經入讀的舊生?

你咁講同攞龍門冇分別呵！又話因爲搬校所以收了弱雞學生，但成績進步了就話收左local school 學生多拉高成績，又即系原先升上來跟catchment 的學生弱雞？唔明呀？

Have you ever visit Borrett road campus?can u tell the difference of the new campus and the descant one? Except without an outdoor swimming pool?

I certainly did. Now the current one is split into 2 campuses and there rbless interaction between different grades. This was one key reason me and my friend declined its offer. Paying such expensive tuition and need to use a temporary campus. Don’t forget it will take at least 4years ( according to the principal) and not to count the possible delay.

Not to mention the travel time from mid level to Shatin. We are talking about 4 years. I rather let the kids to spend the time on sports than on bus.

我冇同意過人家説收了弱鷄學生，只是doubt 今年的好成績是否由home grown 學生成就出來

I just pinpoint the difference between the 3 campus. I agree the commute time of course is a concern but I can’t agree the difference on the facilities of them. U didn’t check out the current campus did you?

咁又話收番來既唔得，又話可能home grown 唔得？我唔識答。for your information , Island school used to have 10% turnover every year before .

Of cox we did visited. In fact we let the kids to decide. The old IS campus although old but it’s landscape and design was just pretty. The current one is temporary so the schoool just spend enough to try to provide sufficient facilities. A taxi and a Ferrari both are red and have 4 wheels, may be they are the same in some people’s eyes, but it’s not our taste only. Anyway I am just sharing the reasons we chose not to accept the offer, there is no right or wrong.

It is pity to decline the offer. Hope your and your friend’s kids can subsequently find a good school because the fact that many good ISs in HK Island. You can still however apply to transfer to South Island or West Island with your HK Island catchment, if daily commuting does matter to the kid. Please understand ESF is one of best IS in Hong Kong. All ESF Secondary provide same curriculum even though moving to decant school. Its facilities at decant are almost the same with the exception that no swimming pool as well as your saying of Borrett Rd School design better. The school always arrange activity bus to bring students to swimming pool in Sheung Wan Sports Complex and South Island. It does not seem a huge problem at all (to the majority of ESF parents).

Island School always kept post about redevelopment and decant location at Shatin. All parents were told about the 4-year temporary relocation. The old Principal and new Principal told all new parents and potential students about the move. If you and your friend knew about the news, why still applied Island School and let the kids do the entrance assessment?

Year 7 有三份之二都是ESF Primary and Glenealy （Mid levels) 升Island School. Year 7 及其它junior grade 真的有插班生，他們部分都是傳統名校(X拔DXS) 或外國回流學生考入Island School，沒有聽到他們成績及英語有你所講的問題......反而聽到他們成績好好。但是可能有個別學生補英文，這是代表Island School 老師和家長覺得有這須要，是好事。ESF 老師經常monitor 學生成績及負責學生individual needs。校長取錄英文不達標準的學生，都是第一次聽。但我們常常聽到ESF 學校不會取錄英文不達標準的學生，Year 7 entrance test 絕對不容易

其實我女女也是當年插班的，佢地插班的同學都是傳統名校，那些同學的英文都不差的。當然，今年轉了去沙田，又可走了一些學生，不過最動盪應該是上學年，應該不是今年。我不相信有家長要求中文newsletter .

We paid for the NR and we put South IS (which we live just next door) as the top pick. But unfortunately only IS has vacancy and that was the time we started to do research about this school. We know IS is good school but at the same time we also believe the environment and the travel time plays a key role on the kids development.
We applied other international schools as well but their admission results was released later that IS, so we still needed to go through the interview/test processes to secure a place.
