Stamford is a new American Int'l which is strong science and Engineering. I want to let my son to apply it but I don't know the detail about this school. Thx!

My son is going to Y8 on coming August. I have some questions to know if I don't pay debenture (select $30,000 per year) is ok for a seat? All of teachers are nice and heart for teaching? How many test or HW daily? Any support for students if they get low marks? The monthly school fees are expensive than other Int'l . Is the school really good ?

I think no one can answer you y8 is so new. At the start most new school probably got low teacher to students so might be ok.

Best is you take a school tour and see what it’s like, they offer a range of workshops and talks to prospective parent

My son is in G6 now. The school is good in my opinion. The facilities are new and the teachers are nice. Also the courses are creative and interesting. For example, in this term, the students had a boat project. They deigned and built boats by group and also had boat race in their swimming pool. This is really impressive. The school also has a lot of CCA s(after school activities) for students to choose. My son attends three CCAs per week after school. Many CCAs are free. I heard the school has a good EAL program to support the children whose English has not yet meet the school’s standard.

Grade 6 has 3 classes now, each class has 22 students ...

Is there any parent here whom kid is taking EAL (English as an Additional Language) support @ Stamford? Would be interested to hear parents’ comments on this support and whether it worths the cost. Thanks in advance!

My daughter study Grade 2 this year. I found this school, although the teacher has a good teaching, the school size is very small, there is no outdoor activity and there is little space for student activities. In addition, students have only ten minutes to eat at lunch , very rush to eat , sometimes my daughter not finished the eating, then must go back to classroom, because there are too many students,but fewer seats. We are going to plan transfer another school, because I asked the Education Bureau , this Stamford America School is not an international school, just a private school only.

what is your definition of an international school: curriculum? student mix?

My friend’s son from US attended one term at Stanford and he decided to send him back to US. His opinion about the school was quite negative, I think facility and campus size is one reason. Heard they need to go somewhere with school bus for some sports activities. Also he said the kid used too much iPad and laptop because most of school teachings and homework were conducted on the ipad/ laptop.
