好像600個，平均5個選一個。

Are you from ESF kinder ? So far the few people I knew from ESF all got RC interviews.

750 should be all applicants. Every year the number is about the same, in fact this year is a little on the low side as they usually get around 800, and would invite about 600 for interview.

Thank you very much for your child’s application to enter Year One (2018-19) at Renaissance College Hong Kong (RCHK). We appreciate your interest in the programme that our College has to offer. RCHK received over 750 applications for 162 Year One places during the month of September 2017. Consequently, a random-number system, alongside the known priority, was applied to all applicants to form the pool from which we could invite students for interviews.

We are pleased to inform you that your child will be interviewed in January 2018.

我今日打去有，其實仲有quota，但俾左nr 40 萬再俾levy 5萬，雖心儀，但已有其他offer，要諗諗這45萬(emoji)(emoji)太肉赤
所以有冇前人試過冇得in 最后5/6 月再叫in? 其實係零机會？

據我所知，RC 網頁上的priorities list 是admission assessment/ interview 的priority, 並不是to be offered 的priority (NR holder 除外，白紙黑字寫明)，所以N無人士有得interview 是好幸運呢，good luck

Actually that happens a lot. The reason is many applicants see RC as a backup for ESF foundation schools (i.e. KJS, SJS, BHS etc), and if they receive offers from both they will give up RC. So it is typical for RC to hold many more interviews after February for applicants on the waiting list. In fact it is this phenomenon that prompted the new "One Form" scheme, because RC is just tired of being everyone's favourite backup and having to hold more interviews than necessary. The new scheme was going to be introduced this year but has been postponed, so the current situation remains the same as previous years.
To cut a long story short, if your child is not invited to the first round of interviews in January, there is a fair chance that he/she will be invited sometime in March or later, but I would advise you not to totally rely on this and actively devise a Plan B if there isn't one already.

I’m just wondering why most people take RC as a back up school? Just simply coz it’s not one of the foundation schools? Thanks!

i think is due to its location. for the one who got offer by KJS and BH would most likely live in Kowloon side.

There used to be a major reason up to 2 years ago, which was the fact that ESF foundation schools used to receive a subvention from the government while RC do not, so the fees for the foundation schools were about 20% cheaper than RC. This subvention is now removed so there is no longer a significant difference in terms of school fees.
Another reason might be because RC has a shorter history and track record than the foundation schools, so the brand name effect is not as strong.

That is not a worry for RC, they will have no problem filling all their seats before school starts because there are always far more applicants than there are seats. It is just the hassle of having to deal with a significant number of applicants declining their offers.

其實 ESF 和 PIS 會係同一批申請人，但 ESF 全港都有，住港島我估唔會想山長水遠入馬鞍山。

因此有港島 ESF 甚至 ISF VSA offer ，點會去 RC ？

另一方面，亦有一些係視 RC 為 first choice， ESF 只是 backup ，但人地唔係個個上 EK 講。

大家自己睇下邊間適合，唔好人云亦云。

利申：仔女 SJS + STC ，已畢業。

不能同意更多，我就係例子，RC係我第一選擇，ESF只係back up

其實RC都吾易入，吾係個個ESF學生都有Offer!

Sure there are applicants who are genuinely interested in RC and don't see it as a backup, that's the whole idea behind the pending "One Form" scheme, where applicants could clearly state RC as their first choice. In fact under the new scheme there won't be any backups at all because each applicant will only get one offer from one school at most, it will not be possible for an applicant to receive multiple offers from different schools under the ESF umbrella.

Esf kinder 一定有得in, total 750 人apply , in 600 個 (including Esf kindies ) . 自己計下
