i just had the interview this morning and it's just a 20 minutes group play, and surprisingly, there isnt any other assessment being made nor asking parents any questions.
Anyone know if there will be a second interview?

我地那組進入-出來total 10分鐘,家長只係一個睇字。感覺係最簡單的一次面試。唔知幾時有結果呢?

作者: joyct120    時間: 17-10-27 21:05

Yep, what I really don't quite understand is that the teacher seldom mark comments in their notepad while observing the kids play. I am not sure how are they going to pick the kids if that's the only interview. Presumably they will give offer to all kids who turned up to the interview except for few exceptional cases (such as the crying babies)?

Tried searching but could only find an old post back in few years ago. Someone commented that the total number of intakes for both am and pm will be 96 (48 each). Obviously we would have more than 96 kids went to the interview yesterday, I am very curious on their selection process.

No the 3rd round. Nov is the 2nd. I understand that applicants within the first 250  will likely to have an interview. Accordingly it sounds logical for you to have an interview at 160+.

Thanks Lucent. From what you have explained, do you think our interview held last week would be the first round?
Further to the above, do you think they are going to select the first 96 students to give the first batch of offer among the 250 kids?

Still have many questions around the interview process in mind which is puzzling me, many thank in advance.

Hi all, I have just talked to Anita today. Here're some useful information for your info:

1) Our interview was the 1st batch;
2) About 300 kids were being interviewed on that day, 120 offers will be given (instead of 96 which I was incorrect);
3) First batch of offers will be announced before Xmas. If the seats are not filled (eg some give up the offers), then the rest on waiting list will be called for interview

Hope that helps.

I don't think there's been any change. Many years ago, the school rejected my friend's child after the interview. I don't think it's right to assume that you must get a place if you are called for interview.

I have not received any notification yet, however, my friend's son who is currently at KCS PN have received the priority offers. FYI - priorities will be given to kids with siblings at school (and/or if kids are studying KCS PN).

I believe the majority of the first batch of offers will be announced before Christmas.

^^Thank you for sharing useful information again. Did they receive the offer by mail / email or phone?

My son did not perform well in the interview. He did thumbs up and hi five to the teacher but mess up the blocks and took the toys from other kids during the interview. I think his chance is not high.

Good luck to mamas and babies ;)

I have also received the PM offer but I am not quite certain whether to take it or not. One main reason is that I think my spouse is not fully ready to allow my child to go for international school route yet as she is still heavily influenced by the "local mindset". To avoid starting up an argument, we may end up trying some "hybrid school" first (eg Victoria) to give our child a bit flexibility on going for either local, DSS or international stream. We may then decide our path upon choosing for the primary.

Do you mean your husband is a IS supporter while you prefer local school? if that's the case, then your situation is quite similar to me. If your concern is only about the secondary school section of KCIS, then if i were you, i would accept the KCIS kindy offer as talking about secondary school would be a bit too far from now. you can change to another IS for your child by the time he/she reaches to that age. Also, i have been searching around the posts about KCIS and understood that there were a lot of kids switched to ESF or other IS on their primary.

To be honest, i think KCIS is a good school by words of mouth. I knew two friends of mine who are working at senior positions at investment banks have their kids studying there. It's not a top tier IS but certainly it's a good school and worth its price. KCIS has also been one of my targeted school (at least for kindy and primary) i am not rich and i dont have money to pay for hundred thousands/millions of debenture. It's just the matter that my wife and I would not be able to reach consensus on which curriculum to choose. My wife was graduated from a local girl school and she was not familiar with the IS curriculum. She also worried that she would not be able to help or provide any assistance to our kid on her hw. I have tried to explain to her (supported by a lot of online articles explaining about what IB/IS curriculum are) that curriculum for IS (and IB curriculum) is different to local and she doesn't need to worry about homework. Until the time she is fully understood and recognize this difference, i dont think she is ready for the IS stream yet. Sad -__-"

yes and i also support IS but around 70% who would likely accept the offer. Correct my concern is KCIS secondary school and i agree may think too much as he can move to other IS or local IB in the future. you know, when being a mom, really need to think more
