Could anyone please share the interview format? The school only mentions that there will be group activities in the kid's native language. What kind of activities will there be and what questions will be asked?

Also, does anyone know how many kids are there from preschool and in the Foundation Year respectively?

Thanks, we just got that too... really hope someone can shed some experience sharing about the three stages of interviews as there are so little info! And I just realize the stage 2 (3rd round) is parent AND child, not just parents ... I wonder what would be tested for so many rounds

In 3rd round, parents are interviewed and scanned by teacher to see your ambition to commit to bi language program and how do you assist your child to achieve it. And why ISF?
Your child will be given some tasks and work alone independently at the other end of interview room. After interviewing parents, teacher will ask your child to come back and test her sth like logics and sequence.
This was what we were interviewed two years ago. Wish can help!

May I know if the parents are sitting side by side with the child while he answers the teachers’ questions?

My kid is shy and will perform differently when he is with us. He’s much better when he is alone!

Parents sit together and child is assigned some paper tasks and work alone end of the room. My child was also timid and was so quiet theoughout the interview. But I think teachers have tested enough on children twice and now they wanna test on parents.

My friend who applied last year also got parent interview but he failed finally. If I am not wrong, about 50% of applicants will be sorted out this round.

What language did you use during the parent interview? We picked putonghua... we are not native, my husband said he wants to be more ‘strategic’. I would prefer to speak in English honestly

At that time we just interviewed in Cantonese and still got offer. I think just choose the language you are comfortable with.

We got an offer and it’s the 3rd year here. Very strong Chinese program but with fun, I didn’t expect they can design Chinese program so much fun and children can pick up so fast. They learn through play, and can sing Chinese poems.
No regret and My child is happy here.
Chinese is important to our family so we don’t have much choice honestly.

ISF respect our origin. Just pick your mother tongue language for parents interview. It can be different language you picked for your child in child’s interview.

面試父母期間會拿些工作紙給小朋友做，包含英文，數學和邏輯推理，但是沒有中文。關於面試父母的部分，我們被問了很多問題，甚至問到了爺爺奶奶和外公外婆的學歷和職業。我的經驗是越輕鬆面對越容易拿到offer。我家很注重中文，所以最終放棄了ESF去了弘立，如果你對中文不是非常在意的話，我建議首選英基，我個人的最愛。

isf每天5节中文，esf每日1节。除了中文，esf其它方面都很优秀。

Since u kid is now studying in isf. How do u feel? We have interview for esf in Jan.
I was told the teachers in isf not as stable as esf ...

我們只讀了四個月而已，目前看來老師還蠻穩定的，也很認真負責，小朋友如果請病假，中英文老師都會打電話來查問病情，學習進度和評估也都會讓家長清楚明白。但如果你對中文要求不高的話，我還是認為有很多更好的選擇，比如esf，不會那麼遠，也不會那麼貴。

Do you speak mandarin or English at home? We are a Cantonese speaking family, and our child only speaks Cantonese and English for now. Becos he has a very shy character, our only concern is whether the child will feel a bit lost at school if most others are either mandarin or English speaking, with few kids of similar family background like his.

我家是純粹普通話語境，雖然媽媽英文很好，但因為想小朋友中文強，所以都不會跟她說英文。就小女班上來說，有接近一半的小朋友都是純英文家庭，剩餘的一半普通話一半廣東話，但小孩子之間交流基本上全部是講英文的。我女兒也很害羞怕醜，但是去了isf之後活躍自信了很多，原先的港式發音也改善了很多。

面試老師先給孩子坐在一邊做工作紙，家長便跟老師面談，主要內容是了解孩子日常生活，是誰照顧等問題。輕鬆面對就可以

My son is studying at FY now. In the 3rd round, they will give a series of instructions for my son to complete 6-7 worksheets in 1 go in Mandarin. Luckily my son can remember all instructions and complete. For parents, they want to see how fit you are as ISF value parents’ involvement very much.
