小兒將2月插班小学部。因為新手, 想請教現讀家長交流一下？例如上課時間表，功課量，評核或考試等等…… 非常感謝！

其實上課時間表，都幾confusing.學校係以10日為一個cycle，分odd even week. 唔好搞錯. 如果有報ECA,下星期一會開始,直至尾2星期.
你小朋友幾年班?呢星期的剛開學係honey moon.下星期就會有功課.功課多唔多我唔可以講因為我的小朋友係由Reception讀起冇讀過其他中小學.但是AISHK除了校內assesment ,由Yr 3,5,7,9都還要考澳洲的Naplan試.如果你的小朋友的中文好而又入了Chinese Literature班,咁就ok因為中文功課壓力不少,一樣要默書.我大仔就是頂不住而轉了中文班.

點樣壓力大法？你個仔由Chinese literature 轉去中文班？即係點呀？佢哋啲中文程度係咪好好?

首先多謝happy_mum你的回覆.我仔現在是三年級，剛上了几天課。暫時好像沒有功課，星期五的homework folder裏只有一本reader, 中文剛派了本textbook (請問是否每天也會帶回家的?)

中文就開始教書. 但班主任(英文)好像未教書. 星期五做了數學test, 另外老師叫佢哋用電腦打了一個故事( 應該係冇set format), 請問這些是否assessment？中文應該未分班吧，因為好多都係鬼仔，請問佢哋中文分多少個 stream? 本地學生是否通常會去最高級? 還是以能力劃分？

你細仔讀幾年級？你覺得學校教書嘅程度夠唔夠？因為我不希望要外出補習！另外你仔仔有冇參加啲咩ECA ?

我的大仔係由中文Literature (即是最深的一班)轉去Chinese non background班.而non background亦有分好幾個level的.聽我一些朋友小朋友讀ESF學校的媽媽講佢地睇完AISHK的中文書,認為AISHK的中文是不容易的.不過如果你的小朋友以前係讀local school的話可能中文低會比較好。我的小孩係由Reception讀起,中文不能夠同local school background 的相比.

我大仔今年Year 7,細仔Year 1.
上星期的數學assessment 是用來分班的.數學亦是分stream 的.每一個 term的第一個week的 test 老師都會評估成績而分班的.

大部分Chinese 小朋友都會被分到Chinese Literature 班.但當然亦有睇成績.我大仔以前的中文班便有2個金頭髮的男生.每天放學有中文補習班.屋企又請了講國語的保母.我自問冇咁嘅resources.中文書係每日帶返屋企的.因為有默書同其他功課的.

Reader 係一定的.It's part of the homework.

要補習的我覺得是Maths. Not enough practise.

你的小朋友今年Year 3,要考Naplan.你有冇買Naplan questions exercise 比佢做? Naplan 係 team 1 考的.

我的小朋友都有參與ECA. AISHK 的swimming 同rugby 是很 strong 的. 我大仔係rugby校隊,要參加practise 亦要同學校出外比賽.要support 家長要好有commitment. 佢地有些practise 係上課前的.早上6:50am 落水或者開波.唔一定係放學後. 我真係未天光就送返學.仲要走2轉送細佬.出國比賽的時間同錢都唔計啦.

當時我大仔每星期要默書,有時係背默.課文D字都識唔矖要背默就有D吃力.Year 5 要背默唐詩同埋註解.果位老師默書70分以下要重默.咁加上每星期的新功課及默書,壓力自然有,好彩當年呀仔已經唔係個個星期要重默.唉!

I see, thanks! We applied for next year's reception too (should have applied last year) but anyway let's see if we get a spot for either the reception Year or the preparatory year after!

Looks like if my son gets in I'll have to more or less help him out if it does get too difficult for him

我小朋友今年都YR 3. 其實功課算好少

英文 - 每日讀一本STORY BOOK
數 - 每星期做一張工作紙大約30 題
中文 - 格一星期讀默 (生字+拼音) , 每星期抄寫生字或造句

ECA 選擇算好多

Hi may I know which month ur child was born in 2012? Which year will ur child be in 2018? My boy was born in march 2012 but the school said we should be prepatory in 2018 instead of year 1. That means my boy will become 超大仔? I'm so confused as the schools advice does not follow their online starting age guide.

What are the extra costs apart from school fees? As I think on their website they said the fees have already included excursions, so are the extracurricular activities already paid for?

No. But the price is very reasonable. Around $900 per term . Tennis costs more

I would say so, my son who is half Oz applied in Jan this year for 2018 reception and there are still 10 Oz/NZ boys ahead of him on the wait list (they do try to make sure there is a gender equality)
They said to call them in July to see if there is a spot available after the first round of assessment in May/Jun, but most likely he will get accepted in 2019. In other words if you are not an Oz/NZ passport holder, your chance is very slim for 2018. Generally you have to apply 2 years ahead.

You should still try for the prep year or their primary, they seem pretty good. You can book for a school tour to check it out yourself. They have a tour every Wednesday, just call their admission office or email them to book!

Yes my friends girl who has NZ passport also was asked to go to their assessment this year. They applied Jan last year. So like I said you need to apply 2 years ahead
