Can someone share the details of SIS PY1 interview? Many thanks!

The whole interview would last about 45 mins.
Can choose either English / Mandarin as the medium of instruction in the intervew.
Shapes, colors and logic are tested, e.g. there would be a series like: (1) square, (2) circle, (3) triangle, (4) square, (5) circle, (6) =?
May give you a picture and ask the kid to tell a story based on the picture.
Overall speaking, degree of difficulty is not high and atmoshpere is relaxing.
But, even if your kid has chosen 'English' as the medium, do teach your kid a few simple dialogues in Mandarin, and vice versa.
Seats available to non Singaporeans are limited, but outstanding kids would still be screened in.
So.....get well prepared and good luck!

hello, our Py1 interview is on the 12th next month, so nervous ! We didn’t prepare much yet, dun wanna give her too much pressure. Hope the chance is high...

Ours is on 12th too! I read from above that logic/sequence could be part of the assessment... there is no way my kid can do it. He can barely do shapes .... and sending him to interview unaccompanied is itself a big challenge... sigh.

Kids were happy that day as they were given a candy at registration. They came out of the multi purpose room happy too. I asked them what did they do in the room, they told me they did math so I guess were similar to what was described earlier in the thread. But my kids have no priority so just let nature take its course.

The int letter says result out by feb. does your child has priority? I think math is really difficult for this age. But then, we r not sure what kind of math questions they asked and since we r not Singaporeans, I guess slim chance to get in.

Maths! My kid didn't mention "maths", nor does he know what "maths" means. He barely knows "numbers" ....

the only thing my kid said was "read 2 books". I asked if any colour/shapes/numbers and he just said "no".

Worrying....

Ya, seems not the typical interview where there is circle time which include singing and storytelling. My child told me she is given a book. Actually don’t know if a child knows what’s exactly going on inside

My girls told me there were Legos, cars and kitchen to play with, she said teacher asked a few questions and then asked her to play. And there was a mandarin teacher talked to her also.

So perhaps it's indeed the case that they didn't do the "typical" interview questions (e.g. Colour shapes numbers) but more like observing how they play?!

Indeed. Have called them and ask. First batch sent out already. Now I’m very stressed!! She said by cny shld send out all letters (hopefully). Any non Sg have received too?

I just told her I’m aware that letters been sending out. She said other letters will b sent out by feb. she only said that mine not belong to the last batch that was sent

Mayb other batches means waiting list and rejection letters

I went to the office last week because it was parent- teacher conference, they said most of the letters are not ready yet because they got lots of applications this year.

They usually send out first batch before CNY, for whose are at top performance for both Sg and non-Sg childre.Second batch will normally be sent out after CNY. This is the pattern I knew from previous years

Hi, did you call them? And they told you on phone you are on waiting list?

It seems so far not many offers have gone out (or may be all those with offers aren’t on EK (emoji)).....

Thats what i heard (i.e. first batch goes out before CNY) but based on the post on EK and what i heard from people around me, it seems most people have not heard anything before CNY. No one is posting anything on FB either (saw various posts about offers from FIS/Kellett/ESF but nothing on SIS).

from what i read from the previous posts, they were still giving offers in July and August in previous years. There is always hope! And i guess its a matter of luck too - depending on how many people accept/reject the offers..

We are Singaporeans too... haven't received any letter but have received a phone cal before CNY regarding going in again....
