U just received an offer for k2 but there will be no priority for primary interview. Does it worth to go??

Oh perhaps it's less than 2 Terms left for K2, that's why no kindergarten priority can be granted, it was mentioned on their school policy! If no priority then it seems not worth to change, it's not good to let your kid to adapt to new friends and new environment too often, a few months later, your kid will suppose to attend Primary, so I think you should try to apply ESF P1 directly, apply both the foundation school (based on catchment area) & RC. By the way, Which kindergarten is your kid studying now? Will it have it's own primary school?

We are going pods now. No primary backup. We are considering which stream to go. Seems all parents who can afford want to escape from local primary due to the huge pressure from homework

Your case is really difficult! I'm not familiar with PODS, it this under HKPS?

If you looked for international primary school, I think you may better start to call the Admission Office of the following schools and ask them when you should start to apply P1 and the possibility to get an interview: 1) ESF admission hotline 37622411; then some more other Int'l school 2) German Swiss cuz you lives in Hk island, 3) HKIS at Tai Tam or Repulse Bay. Tel: 31497000 or 28125000. You must explain to them your situation now and what you are looking for, they will guide you how and when to apply! Good luck!

But the competition is huge! You better search a lot more other international now, for the newer one, you may look for Nord Anglia (but at Lam Tin, this is a good one too and they will have upper secondary later). Tel: 39581488 or Kellett international school (at Kowloon bay) tel: 31200700. Both are UK curriculum!

My child started in the second term of K2. She was invited to the primary interview and ultimately got an offer from the primary. So there is always hope!

You would have to apply from birth to Kellett.....the wait list is huge,,, i had applied 2years prior for pre-grade 1 (not exactly remember.. is K2 equivalent). I am 5xx on the list, and the admission told me have to wit til year2 or year 3 for spot to come up...

I assume you are targeting schools on the HK side... ESP Primary would be easier to get into compare to SJS, BHS or KJS due to the catchment area. you have 5 Primary schools on the Island for Hillside to fill in.... however, there are still tons of priority whose kids didnt study at Hillside and still ahead of you on the list...

There is priority for ESF kindergarten students for ESF primary, but the priority is not as high as it used to be. Right now, it's below siblings and alumni, and I believe you have to have studied at an ESF kindergarten for a certain number of terms before you are granted the priority. Best to check on the ESF website for actual details.
