我個仔12月interview, with sibling priority, 學校話interview唔好，3月再interview，有沒有收到同樣的信？

I don't think so. In fact his performance was better than her sister ( very shy in the whole interview last year and she was admitted straight). He just ran away when the teacher came but he could complete the puzzle alone built blocks and talked to me. I am not sure if the teacher could observe this. Maybe they wanted to make sure that he is not an autism boy.

其實近呢幾年學校(小學)內部的通訊；頗強調並提醒有sibling的家長做好Year 1 interview準備。或者過去曾經有許少部份家長因為有sibling priority而想當然不太在意做好準備；學校不欲把收生門檻降低但及不想出現小朋友有sibling priority但又被reject的兩難情況；從嚴in多次等家長準備充足d；也不是壞事。
至於家姐同細路表現之差異；老實講；interview係100%主觀；冇得解。

You mean interview for ESF Primary? Or entry to ESF TY KG?

I think she is talking about TY ESF k1.

I just saw a post in Facebook, her kid was asked to go back to TY in April for 2nd interview for K1 admission. She said the teacher did not speak to the parents and her kid during the play-visit….. That is so strange….
Also quite some ppl said no questions were asked to the parents/kids during the play-visit…. No idea what is the selection criteria…

Actually, not every single child can speak fluently or is willing to speak in strange environment at nursery stage. Teacher could screen by watching how do the children interact with other children and adults.

In my group, about 5-6 families the same room for play visit. I found that 1 Family was being focus, because this family came late and the child was shy. The child was not willing to do anything, and it seemed that the parents were not interacting well with the child. So the teacher just sat opposite to them for long and interacted with the child. On the contrary, I don't think our family got a lot of attention from the teachers , either we were out at the very beginning with my honest answer （in term of home language ) or they think my child can understand and communicate well in English.

The interview for my 2nd child was very different from my first born at TY kinder. The teachers kept their distance, really just holding their clipboards n observe, not much talking with parents, interact abut with the kids, could be the kids were all in priority batch, or could be change of interview policy.
On the other hand, I have heard very good feedback from WKS parents how their principal is making a big difference and have very good relationship with RC, if you are aiming for RC, that's where you should go!
They even have their kinder teacher presented to primary school interview, see how nice is that for the children

Exactly, this year some WKS teachers also attended Y1 interviews at SJS

That's true. I got through two interviews in ty ESF for my two girls and now for my son. My son's performance should not be so bad when comparing with his sisters. The teacher said that might be because of soaring no. of applications. But I think the no. For kids born in year of dragon should not be smaller than year of the snake. That may be due to their change of interview policy.

As regards primary school, my elder daughter got 3 offers (SJS, RC & DC). We finally picked SJS. But now after several years, I started thinking i should have not made the best decision.

I think for a self disciplined kid, SJS is good. But for my girl who indeed needs a lot of supervisions and guidances, SJS seems too free and loose. Also, the atmosphere for learning chi in SJS should not be as good as rc. I am not expecting she can write well, but I can only say it is far from my expectation.

Regarding supervision, Is it because RC has smaller class compare to SJS?

RC都是每日一節中文堂而已，其他esf也是一樣。即便假設說RC中文真的較其他esf更好，那應該都是孩子自己在家努力吧。另外我也不覺得sjs氛圍free過rc，他們很講求課堂紀律
