They said they need talk with the parents, do they need both parents to attend the interview or mum only is acceptable?

If I were you, I would definitely ask the father to go as well, unless there is a very special reason why the father can't go.
ESF emphasises in the family participation in school activities and they want both parents to understand and agree on the ESF principles and school policies. If the father can't be bothered to join the interview, it will not be a very positive first impression...
Just remember that there are so many other kids dying to have the chance of being interviewed.
Why ruin the chance of your child?

Thank you for your advice, my husband has a business trip that day, so I asked if he could not attend. Anyway we rearrange the schedule.
