no, not yet, still waiting. but i heard that the first batch (e.g. kids with sibling studying there) will have interview early dec.

ESF Tsing Yi kindergarten usually sends out Play Visit invitations in mid-December, so should be arriving sometime next week. Play Visits will be held in January.

Those who received invitations early and attending Play Visits this month are those who have some kind of priority, e.g sibling, alumni etc.

A few years ago it was around 500 applicants competing for 180 places.

seems like not every one has an interview, the email said your kid "is selected" out of many applications.

it said they may speak to at least one parent, does it mean both parents can go?

隔離abacus嗰post話email有講幾多人申請，TY咩都無講，generic email and letter. so far嗰個都係 22, 唔知有冇人被reject

Everyone will get invited. All on the same day. Last year, about 350-400 non priority interviewed.

This year, the priority group had been interviewed a few days ago in after school hours. I saw the list posted outside and had about 60-70 names. So still over 100 left. In fact my guess is even if you cannot get into this 100, if you are within 50 in waitlist, chance is good. My kid started k1 this year, and seems always 1-2 new student at beginning of each month (yes, each month, sept oct and nov at least 4-5 so far).

So some 150 out of 350, chances are not bad

其實k1 收幾多人？我唔太記得係咪 22-25 人一班，3 班 x上午班即約150 嗰位？
我其實無乜信心，因為我地大多數都係講廣東話，係多英文單字，即成日都係中英夾雜，人地話play visit聽到廣東話就out得。。。。

22 children per class, 4 classes, and 2 sessions (AM / PM), so total number of places is 22 x 4 x 2 = 176

Knowing Cantonese is OK, but mixing English and Cantonese in the same sentence is a big No No. There is still a month to go before the Play Visit, so make good use of the time and try to correct this behaviour :)

No, parents can go in. Officially they said one parent, but they are quite loose and some got both parents. They expect parents to play and interact with child.

Many children just turned 2, and single words would suffice (not even short sentences). As long as the kid understand or appears to understand what is being asked and can utter words regarding colours, shapes or simple objects like cars, trains etc, that will do. I think even kids studying PN in local kinders can do that.

Try not to speak chinese as the teachers may interpret the child not able to understand english.

If doubtful about your kid, speak less (but not nothing) is better than more, kids answering teachers in short better than long sentences.

I have similar thoughts too... he understands almost all eng instruction! thanks for reconfirming my thoughts!

Or you mean Mandarin? no... Full eng. just make sure you can demonstrate your kid could communicate in English well

係，上年做咗d統計，通常offer係比朝早第一、二批in既 candidates, 去到中午in嗰批已經係收active waiting 多，所以我有懷疑過interview時間越早，個random number 越細，即係越有機會收
