My son is studying Y1 in Kingston. He receive an offer from AISHK. What is your pick if you were me.
My son loves Kingston. I am sastify with his progress. My main concern is no high school.
AISHK was my first choice before but now I am afraid that the Chinese lesson is AISHK is weak. I prefer my son to be able to read and write in Chinese( either simplified or traditional)
Looking forward for all your comments

Which grade is your son going to in AISHK? Was it easy to get in?

He got offered for preparatory class in January 2016.
He passed the interview but since there not enough 'place', so he got put into waiting list. Few months later, we got the offer. So an Australian passport is 'a must' to get into AISHK.
My second son couldn't get into AISHK because his English is not good enough.

There are two sides of a coin, it all depends on how important Chinese mean to you and what sort standard of Chinese you are looking for your kids. I can tell you that, the Chinese class in AISHK will divided into two streams when the kids go to year two; one is for students with Chinese background and the other one is for those without or very poor in Chinese. Language can be catch up by time but not chances! If your elder son is offer by AISHK, I will suggest you to take the offer first, as it will be easier for siblings to accept by the school once your second son's English is up to the standard.

In terms of academic which one is better? Aishk or ESF?

I have a friend with 1 son in SJS and 1 in AISHK. He prefers SJS. It is because the learning atmosphere in SJS is better while AISHK is too "relax".

I cannot compare them for you as their education are based on different curriculums. For most of the students in AISHK will sit for HSC and some will sit for IB exam (only offer in the senior high school) and for most of the kids will go back to Australia to continue their higher education. ESF schools are on IB curriculum from kindergarten which students will go to the universities round the world.
I am not the one who is sitting in my sons' classes but from my experience with AISHK, parents from reception class will have kids updates everyday; teacher will post their pictures and comment or telling us what they are doing in the class; while for other early childhood year ( prep to year 2), parents will receive news letter from class teacher and the school every week. Teachers are caring! I always get in touch by the class teachers every two to three weeks to let me know how my kids are doing at school. I think it is already good enough for me as a working mum. In terms of academic, I always believe parents are the one who dominate at least 30%,students responsible around 60% and the rest are the teachers.

It depends on which EFS school the kids are in , the % of Asian and South Asian. If the school is dominated by Asian and South Asian which their mind set are very similar to local parents.
