The principle did mention to us there are around 300 applications for preparatory this year during the briefing session.

No worry, for those kids who have been currently put on waitlist, the chance of getting seats before August is very very high, especially if kids hold foreign passports, according to last year experience. Parents, however, need to think about if it is worth to pay the non-interest bearing 400K ICN

我之前問過，第二個有discount. 但唔多，當時學校話大第二個減5-10%

400k debenture is higher than most IS. It is amongst the highest debenture fee.

Nope... Had interview on the 17th and only got put on the waitlist... Lucky we received an offer fm another sch abt 2 wks ago so we will give up the waiting @ CAIS :)

I have just called the school ...similar reply - next payment will be due in late July / Aug. so probably we need to wait until then. The staff also refused to tell me my kid's exact position of the wait list ......

Yes, similar respond to me as well. Please share if anyone on waiting list got offer, so the rest can plan better for the kids... especially if we need to withdraw from current K3 and fit in quickly for the new environment... THANKS!

No worries, as it's difficult to get in any IS nowadays, ppl usually apply more than one as backups, so hopefully they may give up some offers at the end! I'm also going to apply 3 other IS as backups in Sept.

It's correct that the most recent debenture value was at $250k, but no more of those will be sold. Fairly misleading...

They've communicated to existing parents of students that the next set will likely be priced at $400k. But because the next set is not yet available and pricing hasn't been finalized, I guess they can't really say to prospective parents what it will be set at, as it can mislead them. They had issues managing the increase, and there was some concerns and objections raised during the last round, particularly to those that were already attending, so I think they're taking the approach of not saying anything until the amount for the next set can be confirmed.

Long story short, plan $400k, or more to be on the safe side, or be prepared to pay for the annual levy.

The most recently available purchase price for an ICN was set at HK$250,000. Future face values and subscription prices are anticipated to be higher. But not more than HK$400,000.

With the rising costs of everything in the last few years, for prospective parents that are going to be entering and won't be able to buy the next tranche of ICNs at $400k (which are for those already in CAIS), I think it would best to plan for something higher than $400k when they will be able be to buy once their child has entered the school.  Call me a cynic...

In their official communication, they've stated to be anticipated to be not less than $400,000.  But the impression left by the school is that it will be at $400k for the next tranche barring from other factors.  Future tranches will be unknown.  At least that's my impression.

Every school is facing similar challenges, and the delay in the school build as a result of the very late handover of the land from the government has compounded the problem.  Image the cost of building when Harrow built vs building now, as they were part of the same grant scheme in the same year.

Sibling discount yes. But not too significant, about 5% off for the second one

Annual levy anticipated to be $25k for 2017-2018.

Discount for ICN/ICC is 10% for 2nd child, 15% for 3rd child, 20% for 4th and subsequent children.

NO need! to buy now
However, once move to new campus you need ICN (close to debenture but not the same) or pay Annual levy!

Correct me if I am wrong, debenture in other school have higher resale value (market price) sometimes 5 or 10 times in few years time, compare to the first batch! and the school will issue new debenture following market value.

In CAIS however, It named ICN, their value they does not change. therefore no higher resale price. I assume in future ICN holder can sale the ICN back to the school with exact money that he paid for.

The good things is...If up to the market to determine the price, it could be real high under the demand and supply law!

some school consider debenture holder as higher priority in admission order. and some school are non refundable.

Technical differences between the two, but they are effectively the same.

For CAIS, it's an ICN that can only be sold back to the school at face value, in the year following departure or 2018 (anticipated occupancy 2017), whichever is later.

May I know that ICN is just bought after the seat is offered, not before u get a seat? I thought if I buy debenture, I will get a priority to have a seat there? Anyone can help?

And from the school website, it just stayed it's 250k ICN, it's more than 400k now?

CAIS is a caring school rather than putting money on top priority while selecting students, so the ICN can only be bought if your kids are current CAIS students.
