I guess by the time your child is admitted to ESF primary, the diff in fees between VSA and ESF would be less as ESF subvention will no longer be available.

My boy was in Vic kinder and then went to RCHK ( ESF PIS). No regret!

No priority and no sibling. My son studied in K1 & 2 at Vic and then went to Year 1 at RCHK.I didn't compare the sch fee and misc. fee between these two schools. ESF do have some misc. fee but not much. Of course we need to pay for the stationary, Chinese workbook, trips, swimming lessons and MacBook. The fee is reasonable.

My girl is in VSA now. Misc fee around a thousand per term and books fee only a few hundred. I don't regard this as expensive

May I know since which year they start to have overseas trip? Is it Yr 6? And are you a debenture holder? Do you know if the majority of students are debenture holders? Sorry for having so many questions, we will soon go through the interview stage of VSA!

also consider the difference in interview priority for ESF primary between a Victoria K2 student and an ESF K2 student, if ESF primary is one of your target.

Overseas trip should start in secondary school. I'm not a debenture holder, my girl's classmates that I know are not debenture holder. But there were a few debenture holders I know cannot get a seat last year until June. I'm not sure whether the finally got in or not.

A few points I would like to emphasize:
1. ESF Year 1 admission priority: New rules and priority are there. Past experiences may not be applicable under the new rules.The outcome may be totally different;
2. ESF PIS (RCHK, DC) - the admission criteria was a bit different from ESF primary (personal experience a few years ago, no need to challenge me if parents had different experiences). Children outside ESF kindy still had a good chance to get an interview offer and got a place.
3. Being a Victoria kindergarten student, what is the chance of being admitted by VSA? I read a few post that Victoria kindy parents were a bit worried about the chance for getting a place in VSA. I guess you also need to consider this factor if you decide to go for VSA.

I was in the similar situation as you many years ago.... but end up I chose a third route (it was another story) and lucky enough I can still survive inside the ESF system today.

I will choose Victoria since you can try ESF at k2 then VSA at k3.

If you have this concern, Vic is probably better for you cos you can revert to local system in any time. In the coming years, ESF will markedly increase the school fees too, I think.

With no subsidies from the government for your year of admission， school fees of VSA will be similar to ESF (not higher).

Agree with above, it is better to go for Victoria kindergarten as it leaves you room to go for LS (it doesn't seem you are a devoted lover of ESF). And even with victoria, given its good exposure to English, you can always switch to IS.
