標題: ESF vs other International primary schools? [打印本頁]

A lot of people around me put their kids in ESF schools. I just wonder how is ESF compared to the other international schools, such as Think IS, Kingston?
I haven't decided whether to let my boy enter IS or LS. Technically, would it be possible for him to take part in the Primary school central allocation if he is already admitted in IS after K2?

如果所讀ESF 今次IB成績25.5 % 40分以上，那不算優秀怎樣才算？

ESF 唔係精英制，唔會挑選學生入 IB，學生人數很多，好難上去做全港 no 1。但我反而覺得因此更覺得 ESF 的模式係 work 。

我也認同，佢地不分叻唔叻，一齊教，唔似一d學校只著重叻的。結果冇咁叨的完全冇人理死活，死得好慘。

單睇數字，Esf可能吾算最勁果批，但它考生数目多、收生真系有教無類(抽到你，英文掂就收)，叻果班學生應該系好top的，甘既成績絶對交到貨！

唔想又加入口水戰，邊 D 學校有 streaming 大家心裡有數。ESF 學生有叻有唔叻大家亦心裡有數，亦唔係間間有 BTEC。知道ESF運作，就明我講乜。

ESF 係一個機構，屬下有很多中學每一間都有不同成績，我不知你用那間國際學校或有參與IB公開試的學校比較，但以ESF 有考生 831個而獲取這樣成績，我覺得巳很優秀，如果抽起這20%最Top的學生。試問全港有那一間學校做到這様出眾的成績。

Same question as HappyMH here. I didn't know that some ESF students (be it 11-12% or 20%) are not able to sit for IBDP? May i know the reasons, and where these students end up in? (Just being curious although we ended up not choosing ESF)

ESF is the only IS in HK who offers BTEC alternatives to IBDF. this means the bottom x% of students are not affecting ESF's IBDP performance.

having said this, i don't think the difference is worth losing sleep for, and it is a good thing ESF has BTEC

Agree, it is good that schools provide alternatives to students. There is no point for students to pursue the IBDP if this is not their best option.

兩個女都讀不同IS, 發覺讀ESF嘅同學多黎至不同國家, 少少聯合國, 但另外果間就單一啲, 多外國回流中國人,當然都有外國人, 但就唔係黃就白, 一係蕉.

I don't get your point about how excellent the results of ESF is. Its IBDP results are decent but hardly best in class especially considering 10-15% of students are in BTEC.

In my opinion, 聯合國 is good, those which are more 單一 are likely to be the country specific international schools.

Certainly good to have alternatives. I also think the lack of BTEC in DC and RC and the higher % of bilingual diplomas probably account for their results not being as good as the overall ESF system.

Will any student do the IB certificate instead of the diploma?

i agree they account for some of the differences. but i think the differences are too big to be explained by BTEC and bilingual diploma.

I assume you mean DC since RC's score is pretty close. Don't forget that this is DC's first year. Will take some time to get system up and running.

可能有少少聯合國, 所以讀"ESF"個女頑皮啲, 加上ESF人多, 俾一些小朋友讀LS家長印象比較"壞".

I agree with FattyDaddy, plus many schools with students doing bilingual diplomas (such as ISF, SIS, CIS) are scoring quite well on IB score, and they don't have BTEC either.
