I m cat2, a local chinese. My son started his K1 esf wks when he was 2.8 and now almost complete n going to promote to K2, so he is the youngest boy in the class. Aim at first priority: SJS / RC; follow by ICS / HLYIS for pri sch.
I can't say esf wks is good but seems like students there will hv priority getting esf pri interview;
I like YMCA ... after scan all yr comment here (thanks everyone) but worry if it is a silly move as I aim at ESF pri sch;
I know the chance of ICS n HLYIS pri sch is minimal if not join from kinder but then again not sure if it is a wise move;
Also, kinda worry if he don't know Chinese since all r English sch
1) So... Which kinder I should go for?
2) Any recommendations to improve Chinese by self learning or supplementary play class?
3) in case, after all, no IS pri sch accept him, at the same time his chinese language is terrible, then what should I do?

My son enrolls in YMCA TST for 1 yr at Climber's class (kind of like PN), in Sept he'll be going to K1. Very loving and caring teachers. Teachers are ABC or East Indian, classmates are local, mainlander, Japanese, Korean, & few mixed kids. English environment, free play style, no Chinese & homeworkes. Absolutely happy environment!! Most kids move onto International schools at K2 or K3. Some move onto to local primary schools after graduates but attends another local kindergartens in the afternoon like us, then your child will know both Eng & Chinese.
Actually quite a bit of my son's classmates goto local kinder in the afternoon coz the parents haven't decide whether local or international stream. Well, my family situation is that my hubby doesn't know Chinese, thus I want my son to learn Chinese both read & write. Some of my son's classmate's sibling already in IS like ESF or Harrows, the parents all agreed that learning Chinese is much harder than English. You can let your Child to attend those Chinese tutor center but is hard to get them interested if they attend IS kinder. I guess if you target IS especially ESF, why you want to your child to switch to YMCA? Lots of YMCA grads goto CAIS & ICA.

I guess really depends on the kids energy level. My son is an active one & feel bore staying at home. He doesn't nap in the afternoon. Tho I think the parents have to figure out the logistic which two different schools are close.
Since YMCA he doesn't require to sit down in the classroom, he is having a bit of the hard time to sit at the local one.
